Something on that scale wouldn't be addable. Also, since there seems to be a large RV clique using Skype already, it's probably not needed, either. ^_^ Maybe download Skype, and get some usernames from the people here? More people use it than you might think, and it basically accomplishes the same goals.

There is no way I would ever approve of mics in chat. It would just be so problematic, and we already have enough problems in chat.

Plus its imposable to censor live audio. You couldn't ask somebody if they said anything inappropriate because they would say no.

You actually CAN moderate it. A moderator with any ability to distinguish voices can do that pretty well.

This has been one of the biggest suggestions to chat. I'm somewhat surprised that it hasn't been actually thought out.

I don't use chat but every once in a while.... so I'm not even biased. I just KNOW I see this brought up several times a year.

It's an interesting premise, but I don't think I like the idea much either. It's not that there isn't enough people to warrant such a chat room, nor moderating the chat would be *that* horrible of an experience as long as the moderators have the ability to mute. Rather the problem I see lies with multiple people trying to communicate via the chat room. Too many people talking results in nothing being coherent. Aside from that, a voice chat doesn't really lend itself well to how our chat room traditionally roles. This problem is exacerbated when you consider if someone has a painfully annoying voice, or if you're more like me attempt to use a painfully annoying voice just to mess with people.

It's not a bad idea, just not really the style the chat is. Just hang out with the Skype weenies and you'll find voicechats.

And we all know that RV doesn't allow free speach.
Also, Skype is a laggy piece of crap.

Considering skype is you-to-whoever-you're-talking-to without stopping by their servers, I'd say it's entirely your internet... Or the other participant's...
