No, to get a name change you must PM one of the Forum Administrators (A5chow, Applequest and Zilla) with your name change request.

This sticky is just a public record of name changes to prevent people from becoming confused when somebody changes their name.

Surely the idea of this topic is so people know who people used to be.
The idea is that they can be tracked, so their identity is not lost.

Therefore, there is no advantage to anyone else if you don't add the names to the list.

Yes, but if people don't want their name change to be known, their wish for privacy should take precedence over the wish of the public to know.

While appreciating that you are trying to help by informing others, I think it's best if we allow the individuals who have had the name change to post on this topic.
