REMAKE

Oh yes, for us boys and girls, the original by todays standards is horrific, but a quality relic from the the early 60's.

However - They may be remaking it..found this: http://imdb.com/name/nm0915208/

"Rumored" - Michael Bay producer..

Now - this remake WILL be scary.

Thoughts?

I don't even want to see the original, it sounds like a really good horror movie.

But if Michael Bay's directing it, expect Optimus Prime to save the planet (from killer birds) at the end.

If it is being remade, I hope that it will be remade at the original place. It's literally a short drive to Bodega Bay let alone the original church house.

Some remakes are good (3:10 to Yuma), but come on. This is The Birds. A classic. Either have a respectable director (like Martin Scorsese, who knows a poopload about Hitchcock and is one of the best living directors) remake it or don't remake it at all. I like Martin Campbell because of what he's done for the Bond movies, but besides that :? And Michael Bay.....if he ends up producing this movie, my expectations are lowered way further.

Stephen King's IT? The Clown thing...what does that have to do with the birds, which is a hitchcock film?

I'm going to take issue with your statement that "the original by todays standards is horrific". Not at all. I've only seen two Hitchcock, but the first I saw, Rear Window, was made in 1955 and the second, the 39 Steps, was from 1935. Both were excellent. Of course it doesn't have the special effects or picture quality that a modern day film has...but these aren't necessarily defects. Rear Window has a level of suspense that would be hard to match today, while both plots are equisite. Plus, Rear Window has Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart...need I say more. :P

But...back to The Birds (at first I thought you were misspelling name of the 60s folk-rock pioneers the Byrds!). Remakes are almost never as good as the original (witness Hitchcock's Psycho and the remake in 1998). I doubt I'd see it unless a quality director who wouldn't tamper with this piece of cinematic history was chosen. If Michael Bay directs, I'm not seeing it.

Who would even want Michael Bay involved with their movie? Especially birds. He's going to add redundant special effects at every chance he gets.

I think IT was the first movie I saw when I was really little and that movie is why I am terrified and hate clowns even to this day. Lol.
