For me the good ol' Print Screen button works fine. I've always wondered what is the point of a separate program for doing something that is already available in Windows ;)

I'm wok=rking on the eco funtus map.

How should i link stairs together, yellow lines?

K finished,new a idea.

To show how good we are at mapping could you make some sigs (i would but they would be rubbish) saying New Mapper, Apprentice Mapper, Experienced Mapper and Master Mapper.

For the first rank you have to of made 1 map
For the second 2 Maps
For the third 5 maps
and the fourth 10 maps.

Now for my map.

That's a pretty good idea, Blaze, but then it would only encourage people to work until they have earned the best rank. And the quality of Maps is sure degrade if this turns into a contest. :? And that's a lot of signatures to draw out.

I don't really wanto make this a popularity contest. And like a5 said its quality not quantity. Just because some one has made 10+ doesn't make them a "master mapper" in my opinion. I think being a good mapper depends on a lot more then how may maps you can make, its how well you can make them.

*Your title is off, are you suer you made it bold? And i believe it' spelled Ectofuntus

We got gutanoth and the slayer dungeon map
We also got rashalablawhatever's tomb
Temple of ikov has been finished 1.5 years ago, same goes for waterfall dungeon.

I also wonder where my blood rune chest map and my experiments dungeon went to :(

PS: I suggest you people stop ticking me off, i do have other work to do, and i was (still) taking a break, i did not refuse to update the sticky.
I don't get why some people think i have nothing else to do then working my ass off at a full 100%.
Bang your head against the wall, or get some fresh air, anything to make you notice there is more then just RV and RS.

There is life out there!

My break has just been extended.

Oh and Blaze, they look better, but they are still far from looking like a 'real' map.

Uhh yea, when it takes you over a month to reply to the topic you can hardly blame us for going on without you. Not sure why that's suppose to tick you off, it's only natural to assign somebody to do your work when your away. Same thing happens in that life outside RV and RS you mentioned :?

I was away for 1 month and 2/3 weeks
I made a post about it in the lumby forums, but some of you people think you have all the right to jump on my back.

You actually didn't make that post until about 2 weeks into your vacation. I remember because I pmed you before that asking why you weren't updating this and you said you were on break. If you really want this post back feel free to take it. I'm just saying there is no reason to get all mad that people decided to work on it without you.

No no no that's not how it works, before you go away knowing your going away you assign somebody to do the work for you. You failed in doing so, and I got tired of getting asked to update your sticky. So I assigned the person who bugged me the most with it. Something people would call 'tying up the lose ends before you go', knowing things will go on without you.

That's how it works as a mod, that’s how it works with this. In my absence Glodenox takes over and visa versa.

Damen, i do visit atleast once per 3 days to check my pm's, and then i noticed i was gone for to long without posting (a person pmed me about it) so i made a post in the lumby forum.

Loosen op LT, you need some serious time off like me, don't let other people controll your life, don't let other people tell you what to do atleast not on the internet, nobody can hurt you, only you can hurt yourself by doing things people tell you, you don't realise most of the time you do it without thinking, ask yourself why should i do it? No, it's not becuase your a moderator, it's becuase people are pushing you around.
People are diffrent, thank god we are not all the same, you are a kid who dedicates more then other people (take me for an example), (or is that just playing in your heard over and over again?) Sometimes i just don't give a fuzzle, while other people (take you for an example) do. And do you realise what you just did? Someone else told you what to do. That's the whole point, people could start abusing you and you might never notice! They make you do stuff, but time passes and you start to think it's all normall. Maybe it is in your world but it's not in mine.

It might be hard to understand, but someday you will understand it, atleast i hope so (for your own good).

I hope you learn from this advice, if you don't, then it's to bad for you, let me set this straight for ya; i don't give a ____

Bye LT, i hope you have learned something today.

PS: Damen, i'm teaking a break, it's not a vacation, still sitting infront of my pc, finished my 180 hour project, no not in Spain (yet) that's for next year.

The diffrence between you and me is that I do this by choice, there is nobody forcing me to do anything. I work on guides, projects because I like it, not because I have 2. I don't really get how you think anybody is pushing you around when you got into projects like this and modding the forum yourself. When I don't feel like doing so, I just don't do it and somebody else does. However I don't go and make a big deal when somebody takes over something I quit doing

I reckon it is you who needs a break far more then I do, you seem to take this and RV far more personal then you should.

Now if you want to comment on this post do so in a PM, I'd rather not continue this in a public projects post. And for the record, I'm an adult not a kid.

Cheers me dears,

-Lord Thief

Although I agree completely that your maps are real maps and are done quite well, there are 3 points that you may want to keep in mind.

1. Most important-Space conservation. You don't want your map to be cramped, but you also don't want a lot of excess black space off to the sides or one side. For the future, if possible, try to place text, icons, legends and titles in space which must be in the picture anyway. Try to avoid creating extra space for such things.

Image

2. Symmetry. Try to keep things on your map as symmetrical as possible. It looks less professional if things are sticking out off to the side. In addition, try to align text with other things on your map. Your Title does not need to be centered on the map, but if you have a subtitle or credits underneath your main title, try to align it so that you have equal space on each side.

Image

3. Vertical Alignment. Not that big of a deal and barely noticeable, but if possible, try to make sure that your map is upright. For some reason, Jagex's minimap, when straight, is off to angle in terms of North and South points. This can sometimes make your map seem rotated a few degrees when completed.

Overall though, you're doing great. :D You're keeping at it and that's what's important. Map making is quite dead at the moment except for you. :P

And the reason is: (the usual yada yada): Runevillage is full of ....

Also note that people aren't telling Lord Thief what to do; they are requesting it. That's the difference. He does important things that needs to be done. And there's a reason why people request to start a new Map sticky and ask him to update it. They felt that you were doing your job inadequatly. Should you have made a little note on the first page or title saying, "taking a break" instead of leaving as is, the story might have been different. I understand you are/were busy, but when such things happen, it is your responsiblity to do something about it like delegating your responsibliities to someone who can edit the post as well. And LT did what he thought was best at that time. I think it was the right choice especially since we had the possibility of you never coming back. The topic is still in Lumbridge Lounge if you'd like to read it again. Also, please don't look at this as a way of us trying to forget about all your hardwork that you have done on Maps. Your work is amazing, and we won't forget that you've done a lot for Runevillage. We just needed someone who is still here and active to update this sticky. I hope your break goes well.

Nice mapping Blaze! I think any map that someone has taken time to work on, deserves to be put on the sticky, be it 'real' or not. Uploading them on the site is another matter.

I would've taken the easy way with the pool area, and put those four floors on top of each other as one room (if you think of it just being a bowl-shaped big room). It would neatly avoid using all those yellow lines to connect ladders.

Also, if you feel up to it some time, add the ground and first floors of Ectofunctus as well, it would add a lot more content and meaning to the map - the ghost disciples, bone grinder and other quest related info :)

Btw, I haven't abandoned Haunted Mine, it's actually mapped and cleaned up; just seeking inspiration for arranging the five floors nicely, it's a terrible maze that, 20 ladders and all...

Finally, Damen, there's another location to be added on the list:
Killerwatt Plane, which can be accessed from Draynor Manor.

Now before any of you ask, yes tehre already a lot of mining maps on the front page but a lot of them are out of date and none of them fit the mining map rules so I'm gunna jsut let you guys do them all over :P

No they dont seem to quite fit. what you can do though is put each section one over the other (in a vertical alignment) and then use the lines. It won't save any space but it should help make the map a lot less confusing.
