I can't say that the DBZ series isn't good, it's just that for most of the 30 minutes, they're just powering up the whole time :? Which is why, I guess, that animes like these got to stay on for so long.

DBZ is ok if someone is new to anime, it's something to ease them from normal american/english cartoons into anime. Then once they like that they can be introduced to more in-depth anime, the actual Japanese stuff like Love Hina, Elfen Lied, Full Moon wo Sagashite and Gunslinger Girl, the anime that have a lot of hidden meanings, drama and really well-thought out plots and ideas as well as an advanced (and sometimes weird, like FLCL and Excel Saga) humour.

That's just my opinion as that was how I was introduced into anime. :P

Inayashu, cowboy beebop, trigun, an old one called starblazers(Loved that one, first anime I saw on television), one piece, Rouroni Kenshen (Mispelled it no doubt) outlaw star, More that I can't recall the name of lol.

Surprised no one mentioned Ghost in the shell series, both seasons. Absolutely outstanding animation as well as a complex storyline hands down one of the greatest series produced.

Well too much to post here (25-ish, I'm lazy I know :P), but I have the list on animenfo, username there is DevilsKin, look it up if you wish :)

I just finished up watching Elfen Lied, and I think my next anime will be Rurouni Kenshin or Fruits Basket.

Enielle: You haven't seen Love Hina yet?! Well I know you're gonna love it, it was my first proper anime (that means excluding DBZ and pokemon, and tenchi because I only saw a bit of that) and it's probably what got me into anime. Akamatsu-sensei is a genius ^^

All those who have seen Love Hina, have you heard about his newest anime? Mahou Sensei Negima! looks like a great anime, I haven't seen it yet, but since Akamatsu-sensei was behind it, I'm pretty sure it's one to watch!

I've seen all of love hina now :P it rocked, I love ecchi... the spring and xmas specials were the best of the series by far. Though chrono crusade and chobits are still my faves ^_^

Darn that's dissapointing :?

Not a single mention of Last Exile in the lot huh?
That's my current favorite at least. It's kind of a retro-scifi-fantasy sort of
thing with things like steam powered flying machines and such.
It's got some wonderful mechanical design in it. On top of that it's got some
of the best music and a great voicecast.

My recent list is usually just whatever my friends and such are watching

I only really own
-Last Exile (well duh, and anything less than a DVD doesn't do it justice)
-Turn A Gundam which I just finished with my brother who hadn't seen it
It's rather long, but probably one of the better ones I think... but the dvd's
are imported and have subs even worse than the worst fansubbing
-Photon: the idiot adventures (not for kids, but not really horrible, just mature)

Til I get a new player that's all for now
others I like but don't have myself are
Hellsing
Ghost in the Shell
Esca Flowne
Azumanga Daioh -doesn't fit but I still liked it-
Full metal alchemist
Peace Maker
FLCL
Gundam (just,..... not G... anything but G)
.... and probably others, just those are ones I can mention by name

I like the more mechanical oriented ones really, I do some 'fanart' sorts
of things, but more like taking the technology used in a show, then adapting
it and making something not just a direct copy but rather something new and unique.

That's about it, i live in the united states; anime is either horrible, OR americanized/made in the us. and well sucks ^_^ 85% of the time.
