It seems like ages since I've popped in here, so I'd be surprised who is still around from the old days.

I noticed the other day that old school runescape got mobilized which I thought was funny that it was still around. A few years back I got on the new version and was totally lost so just promptly left.

Anyway I wanted to jump back to the old school one to re-live some nostalgia of days past. Turns out my account was hijacked at some point and whoever did it played around for some time. I'd like to attempt to recover it but its been years and years since I last played although I did give jagex a good heap of money for membership so I'm wondering if anyone is still around thats experienced with something like this or has someone I might contact. I'll need to gather some evidence from an old computer first.

If any old members are still around please chime in.

-Cheers

Yo Draco! Good to see you. How are things?

I don't have any suggestions for you, unfortunately. I don't play much either these days, but you might be able to reach out to Magicana, I know he's played recently. Arya used to play a lot too, but they've been gone for a few months it seems.

Things are going well in life.

Honestly reading some of the news that happened while I kinda forgot things its really hit me. The news of hiker and his passing.... WOW. I read pms from 3-4 years ago and things that have happened around here. It was weird going back to my email and messages from years and years ago that involved runescape and my involvement here. I will never forget those memories EVER! It really put things into perspective. Especially considering how much of my life I put into the game....

So far my attempts to recover my account have been unsuccessful which is frustrating because of jagex's mumbo jumbo about account security and how its a real world crime to impersonate someone when I can't get my account back that I paid the membership on for over 3 years and put 1000's of hours into. I even dug out one of my journals from freaking middle school lol.... I'm 31 now. I've had a easier time getting my password back from credit cards then a damn online game for crying out loud. /end rant.

I honestly never thought this game would go on like this but it's still around and still apparently as huge as ever at least with the younger generation. I just wanted to play a little bit here and there but I can't bring myself to start over after knowing that my character is still in existence and that I spent so much time and money on that I'd rather just move on. But I'll try something else and see first.

I had decided to check out runescape again for the first time in a few years when i noticed i was banned. Strangely, or maybe psychically, the ban was about 2 weeks before. I think the IP address logs worked in my favour, as my account was used for botting blue drags, probably by some south asian sweatshop. I guess that had something to do with being able to determine it was hacked.

I did have my email account hacked a few years ago, so they might have done a password change and i never noticed. They did delete a bunch of account change emails for steam/minecraft, as i had to go through and get them back too. Funny thing was, they never changed the email account password, so i saw a few reset password emails come through when i got home, and clamped down on it pretty quick before they could get anything more than they did.

You want to have a bad day? Get your email account hacked.

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.
