They're deader than they were 4+ years ago. Especially Runescape ones.

Because Runescape is dead too. We never really moved onto any lively, newer games. If we had, I feel we could've made a comeback.

Just a question, but how are the other big RS fansites doing these days? The likes of RHQ/RSCommunity/Tip.it/Fagex? Are they dead like us or have they managed to stay afloat and active?

Forums aren't dead, there are many that are very active. Check out XDAforums or redflagdeals. Thousands of posts every week. Perhaps these are exceptions to the overall trend but it's definitely possible. But look at those forums and their respective themes. They both cater to *helping* people. One helps people mod their android phones, the other helps people find the best shopping deals. A lot of automotive related forums help people mod and fix their cars. At our peak, we helped people with their Runescape adventure either through guides/marketplace/Q&A/etc. So the way i see it, we need to adopt a theme that will help someone with something. A forum based on mafia isn't going to go very far, i don't think.

The way I see it, a single person can design a site/forum today and successfully work to build it up from the bottom. We have more than just a single person here who wants to see this site continue onward, i'm sure we can do it. Or maybe not...

The main issue here is that most people here are just like me: I have the time to BROWSE and POST on a forum. I ain't got time (or technical expertise) to be designing stuff and coding and marketing everything. My contribution is to simply post and be active and maybe spread the word to others to join. I don't have time to be writing up guides or to be drawing pictures or hosting forum games.

That said, if we don't have the necessary manpower to really get RV off the ground, then nothing will happen. It will take time and patience to make this change, but it is possible. That's something we already know.

Now judging by the tone of most posts, the underlying idea is that we don't have that manpower.. which simply means we're done.

We've had numerous attempts previously to fix everything but they weren't successful.. maybe we can learn from those attempts and make the next one more efficient?

-Phat

Here's what I've gathered from you people:
People 1: We're going to help in whatever way we can, because RV meant a lot to us then and it still does now.

-Kudos to you folks. There are enough of you with the resources to continue this on for 11 more no matter what the naysayers...well, say.

People 2: Let it die. It's dead already. This is a shell of it's former self. This is all somehow bringing on a physical pain to us, so put us out of our misery. We will help with nothing.

-Good. Great. Grand. Wonderful. GET THE Fuzzy Bunny OUT, THEN. The fact that you stopped by specifically to give your death wishes is an oxymoron in itself. I can almost bet my life on the inevitability of you returning again someday, and even if you don't post, you'll still browse. Be it from nostalgia (why is it considered a bad thing to return specifically for nostalgia's sake?), or even the morbid curiosity of watching something "die", you will still come back. You're here now, eh? Cool. Now, cease fire and let the people who *do* have the time, money, ambition, heart, etc. figure out who's going to do what to keep a fantastic community here. Yes. A fantastic community. It's not like nobody is posting at all, here, folks...There is activity, no matter what the activity used to be.

People 3: Meh. What happens happens.
-I can't argue with that.

Now, I will help in any way I can. I've said that before, and dropped the ball from stints in jail, but those days are over. My schedule is nutty. I work two jobs, am writing an album, and I'm writing an autobiography as well. Oh, well. We grow up, and life happens. I'm still willing to put some work in to keep RV alive. I support the rebranding idea. Forums will never die, dummies. Mafia does have appeal to many and many of you naysayers have just recently been saying that we need to get a game going. Also: If some of you are so worried about post count, who's to say we can't give you your post count from RV and even transfer some threads to a new site so we don't have some awkward blank forum to start with. This all just takes a little productive talk and decision making. If those "in charge" don't want to be a part of that, and don't think there's a point, fine. Now is the perfect time for you to step down and go live your adult lives. You are no longer needed here, by your choice....

It's already been said by others that it wouldn't be expensive and they've either got money or web space. And yes, I'd be willing to give a little cash for the cause. Whatever was within my means, douchebag. Seriously, though what are you people trying to accomplish with posts like that?

On the topic of "paying for it", someone said earlier that the only reason we have a virtual server is for meepchat. As much everyone loves meepchat for its nostalgia-factor, maybe it might be a good idea, at least economically, to go back to the dreaded flashchat and ditch the virtual server. It's not like chat gets used much anymore anyway, and paying a fortune for something we don't really need seems stupid IMHO...

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

People are allowed opinions, and attitudes like that never helped Defeat.

If I am being honest and saying that I do not believe there is any hope left for RV/whatever it becomes, it does not give you the right to tell me to "Get the Fuzzy Bunny out".

If it were to somehow survive, wonderful. I'll be here. If you act like the opinion I share with many others is not valid, why don't you Fuzzy Bunny off yourself?

Several people have put their heart and souls into this place and what has come of it? This. A brief activity boost on a topic about shutting down RV. Forgive us for not really have optimism that a few people who haven't exactly been around as much can suddenly turn everything around.

Bottom line is, what you said was not beneficial in any way.

This x1000. I had a genuine response written out but decided the post didn't really deserve it.

We've already been through the "We can do it!" phase several times, so here is a spoiler; it ends with nobody actually doing anything.

In short, defeat, rally the troops and do something about it. But don't you dare tell me to leave.

Not true. RV at this point still exists. That. Is proof enough. My post was beneficial by me stating I will do what I can. I stand by every last word in it. I've been a part of the revamp goal in the past as well. This isn't the same. This is life and death now. Figuratively speaking.

In fairness to defeat, I don't think he has access to Staff Lounge where most of the attempts some of us have referenced were held.

Any attempts to make changes to the site were ultimately bashed over the head by SOMEONE saying it was

A) Stupid
B) Stupid
C) Useless
D) Never going to work
E) Not worth the effort

Thus, nothing was done.
>_>

Just saying. If it wasn't his..their idea, he...they was...were completely against it and would not budge on his...their decision. He...they has...have always been this way. Since I first joined the web dev team and met him...them.

Demon, I've had good times working with enough people on enough projects that I can't help but see you as an exception.

This is the second or third time you've called me out on basically being Hitler, so I'll give it to you straight: Some of your ideas are good. Some of them are bad. I don't waste time on the bad ones unless you can improve them or give me a good enough reason for me to put my time and effort into it, which you rarely ever do because you get disheartened so easily. I've been at this much longer and in much more depth than you, so I generally have a pretty good sense of what will and what won't work, and I'm also pretty good at helping to turn a bad idea into a good one when there's mutual respect and cooperation between me and the person I'm working with; not when they're speaking to me with sarcasm and insults.

Since you brought up the Website Team, let me remind you that I was only one of three leaders, and not even the top leader, and there were at least 10 more workers under us. You almost never communicated with anyone except for me and Glodenox; did you ever even build a communication with A5chow? Somehow it didn't occur to you that the Website Team functioned as a group and only invested its time in an idea if it had been thoroughly hashed out and recognized for its future benefits. So if you think your ideas were rarely being considered, then maybe it's because you were rarely considering the rest of the team.

Dude look at my post count if you want. Hiker remembers me. Anyways don't take offense by this. But you seem to be problamatic. You keep saying your ideas were right but.. no they look wrong by how your the main admin and under you the axe is falling. Maybe its to let someone else take the reigns your not fit for admin spot you don't have desire for this to have a chance to succeed again and it totally does
