Twas an enjoyable game. Next game I shall play better, as I know what to look for. I was going to post about that phrase blue posted but decided I may be reading too much into after what happened with my reading of Henry's post. That and you folks generally ignored much of what I said unless it confirmed your belief about me.

Blue really did play this quite well but I feel the demon was a tad op. early game there is no way to call out the demon as you will never get the required votes given his number of minions. The town was doomed after about D5 or so unless both mafia and town went after blue for several days. If only the town did then the town was doomed due to mafia.

Damn you chance. Here's looking forward to the next game.

The minions had no idea who was part of the faction. That's why I had to try and make the voting block (that failed). Also, Lander's role existed to combat my anti-investigation thing. He would've had to investigate me multiple times to get a reading, forcing me to "let my guard down".

Me too! I was sure I skipped something or was reading something wrong. I went back and forth through pages in the topic like three times to make sure that actually happened, lol. Totally crazy.

yeah... sorry about that dude, I couldn't afford to let anyone defend themselves at that point in the game. I kind of had a douchey playstyle those last few days, but it got the job done.

No complaints about you and Phantom voting for me, after all it's your objective in the game to win. Frisky on the other hand...

The only thing I could have done more after voting for you was play up being the demon and hope she went for it. I was pushing for a stalemate.

At that point in the game, the only guaranteed winner was Rose. Village may have been able to finagle a stalemate, but him not voting for you just would've drawn things out another 72 hours. I almost included that in my vote for you, but thought it would generate some resentment against me.

I know the game was 99% done by then, but it still wasn't impossible for the village to win, until then don't throw in the towel with a vote you know gives the game away.

If no lynch was made that day, who knows what Phantom would have done. He made the error of attacking you before, and, given the amount of time we would have been at stalemate it's possible if he had done it again you'd be gone with me and Frisky alive (providing your 1/3 nightkill had been unsuccessful). Like Jack said, until there's 0% chance of winning the game isn't over.

Granted that scenario is extremely unlikely to happen, but I just resent people throwing in the towel like Kikori and Frisky (to a much lesser extent) did this game, and Monk a few games back.

Me too. As a player I lose tons of respect for people that vote for themselves (unless it's part of a higher strategy like bluecoat's was this game). As a host I've never even allowed it at all, and never will. If you're roleplaying a character that wants to commit suicide because they're angry you are doing it wrong.

Exactly, I'm so glad someone agrees with me on this. Like you said voting for/hammering yourself unless you're the miller/proving an unlynchable role like Bluecoat then it's basically just a rage quit. When the Kikori situation blew up I was prepared to write a massive rant at him, but you said everything I was going to write, heh.

@ Phantom: Apologies, habitual assumption that everyone here is male.
I just thought, Phantom, is this your second game? If so you've been seriously impressive throughout both (more-so in the first game).

Any public game I've been Mafia I've only been killed off by work of the detective or by custom PM wording being used against me (see: scrubbing bubbles). Detectives, I can at least handle to some degree. By the nature of the game you can at least try to talk your way out of it. But when the only logic that has ever killed me is not even in-game logic, it's annoying. Both because it's entirely unrelated to the discussion at hand's logic, and it's irrevocably damning in that not knowing the secret wording password outside the game screws you over in it.
So respect can be damned, in this case I don't care if it's lost.

Actually, Lander's failed incestigations wouldn't have counted against you. A fail is a fail. It would take a successful investigation for you to let your guard down. This is why I included four investigative roles (Detective, Fuzzy Bunny Detective, and two JoATs with investigative abilities).

And of course, none of them investigated you!

Yeah, my role PMs could have been better. I understand why you were upset about that, and you're not the only one who complained about my wording.

That said, it doesn't justify posting your role PM. It doesn't matter what you can or cannot put up with. You could always drop out if you want to, or lurk for the rest of the game. There were 17 other people participating in this game, and that sort of Fuzzy Bunny ruins the fun for the rest of them. Plus I spent several days creating this game, and you almost ruined it by posting your role PM.

Nothing personal, I just want you to know why that behavior doesn't sit well with anyone.

The more I read over your notes the more I think that if you could model a simulation of that mafia game 1000 times the demon wouldn't make it to the end in 90% of them, and as a result, we, the town, sucked! :awesome:

@Jack, just a side note, do you think that knowing all the roles before hand makes much of a difference? I'd love to play this iteration of mafia again in the future, just to see how it evolves differently.

I could definitely see it working again. But the Demon's special abilities would probably have to be tweaked, otherwise the first person to survive a lynch/attack without the aid of a doctor would be confirmed Demon.

Yeah, I guess the mystery regarding the powers of the Demon is what protects it the most, with vagueness comes security I guess.
