I wish you guys would not come down on anyone who says RV needs to die. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, and if their opinion is that RV is not worth saving, then they should be allowed to say so without fear of reprimand from someone else. It doesn't mean RV is going to go away because a dozen people think it should. More importantly, it doesn't mean they're not trying to help--do you not realize that? I think Pupsin's post was a perfect and level-headed example, and his last two lines ring true for me too.

But just coming down on him is going to make him go "Well I guess I'll just keep my opinions to myself next time", and then that becomes the reason participation on the forums is so low.

I get it, I do--you're looking for ways to bring RV back, and you're reaching out to everyone for advice. But you're not doing it in the Website Team forum. You're doing it in front of the entire community. If you're just going to shun the community's opinions (even if it's only shared by a subset of people) then I would much rather the discussions be entirely private.

This as well; it's the reason I stepped down. Discussions are great. Doing nothing six months later is intolerable.

Jackstick is right, it's pretty hard to find free yet appealing themes for Wordpress nowadays, I was in search of such themes as well a while ago when developing websites for my client, I ended up buying 1 year membership from Elegantthemes as I just could not find what I was looking for.

I will be glad to help Runevillage, Jackstick if you dont mind I can let you have access to my account in Elegantthemes which can download 70+ premium Wordpress themes. The membership allows unlimited usage of its themes on all websites so I have no problem sharing my account.

Also I run a mini web hosting business, if you need I can create a free account for you with Wordpress installed.

Thanks Gateaux, I appreciate the offer. I'm still working on the very basics of the WordPress page, and currently I think I might just end up customizing one of the free designs. I'll keep in touch with you if that changes, though.

Still haven't been able to play around too much with the design, I'm basically just testing out the mechanics and features, and I'm extremely happy with how this is going. Here's an example newspost (again, the design hasn't changed yet) Remember how it took us a week or two to get our Twitter box working? WordPress has a built-in Twitter widget, and it took 5 seconds to activate it.

It basically has everything we'd need, and I'm more than happy to continue using WordPress well into the future, and not just as an interim web page.

I'm gonna see if Glodenox, Burks, and I can decide on a new URL soon. Hopefully within the next few days. Keep posting your thoughts on these, or suggest your own!

Cancel your plan as soon as possible. We'll probably set up another PayPal account soon, but right now we don't want any donations going to Henner's PayPal.

That goes for everyone else, too. If you have an active plan with our donation system, cancel it right now. We'll let you know when we have another one set up.

I have a suggestion, why not instead of sending money to one of the admin's Paypal, couldn't we just setup a donation page that pays directly to the Web Host? wouldn't that be better at least we know that the money reaches its destination. Meanwhile gotta keep reaching Henner.

The money goes into more areas than just that. Donations can be used for hosting and web maintenance/development.

Subscription cancelled. Heres a better idea, one of the admins message me the detailz of the webhosting and if its not too steep i will pay for it until we can set up a more secure method of keeping us up and running

AoB, we're set for this quarter with the hosting. I say hold off until we are dead set on what is happening with Henner and reset the donation page.

I want to give a public update on where we stand with the donations made to Henner's account:

I called PayPal just now, and they said that there's nothing they can do about our situation. I phrased my questions in about 10 different ways, and every time they kept telling me that there is nothing they can do about it. According to them, the money belongs to Henner and it is his to do with as he pleases.

If Henner is indeed taking the money and running, then that's something that we could discuss with the police, and possibly file a claim and take him to court.

However, the cost to do all that would likely heavily outweight the amount of money that we're trying to get back, which I estimate to be in the realm of $200-$300. It's also not something that I personally have the time, money, or desire to deal with right now.

In short, if Henner is indeed abandoning us, then that money is as good as gone. Those of you who actually donated money may have better luck with PayPal than I did, because I've never made a donation and I have no transactions with Henner's account, but I imagine that they would give you the same answers that they gave me.

Sorry guys, there's nothing more that I can do about the donations. All I can do now is hope that I'm wrong about Henner, but that seems less likely with every passing day.

Set me in charge of the donation proceedings. Send donations to me and i will pay the remainder out of pocket from now on. I am finacially responsible and I will ensure the staff never have to worry about this issue again. Just tell ke who to send the payments to next quarter

As long as we can get the actual address of where to send the money, I'll put my name up for cash management as well.

I have a hard time believing that Henner would "take the money and run". He's been a part of this website longer than most of us, helping to build it from the ground up, and I know that he's made personal efforts to show his appreciation to the village and its staff in ways outside of ranks and thanks. I find it pretty difficult to imagine him abandoning all that for a couple hundred bucks.

That being said, I have no idea what the Fuzzy Bunny is up with him. Maybe he really has "taken" the donations; Maybe he was faced with a financial crises and had to make the call to use the village funds for his own purposes and doesn't want to make any sort of post until he has it to pay back. Is this any more likely/unlikely? I really don't know. It's clear that he's intentionally avoiding the village right now, but the reason why has yet to be determined, and I'd like to keep a bit of faith him. Maybe that's naive, but whatever.

The amount of time that's passed with no word from Henner is definitely getting ridiculous, I'm not denying that. But I'd like to give it a bit longer before deciding it's an act of malice.

Long ago someone told Hiker "If you're really dipping into the cookie jar to deal with personal Fuzzy Bunny, just say so. It's understandable. Just be honest about it, we'll probably forgive you."

Hell, we'd probably donate to further help. So once again. The questions pile up and the lack of explanation does NOTHING but hurt chances at a smooth, decent ending.

Henner was on almost a week ago. He didn't post in any forums I can see but did he read any PM's?

I'm pretty much of Goten's opinion - but by the same token I'll never, ever buy into excuses such as "too busy" to communicate to someone at RV the situation. It takes a few minutes, max.
