So I've seen a couple posts on here regarding Rush, but I haven't really hard anyone discuss them. Personally, they're my favorite band of all time. Each member is a virtuoso at what they do, and Neil Peart (drummer/songwriter) is a really inspirational person.

I have too many favorite songs to name, but I guess if I had to it'd be:
Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio, Freewill, Analog Kid, Digital Man, The Trees, Closer to the Heart, Far Cry, 2112, Bastille Day, Subdivisions, YYZ, and Red Barchetta. Favorite album would be Moving Pictures.

So, what does everyone else think? Heard of them, hate them, love them?

Rush is pretty cool. They are very unique so they deserve a lot of credit for that. I wouldnt say I am a fan of theirs, but they definitely have some quality songs.

I do really like Rush, but my personal favourite prog rock band is Genesis (mostly under Peter Gabriel). I also prefer Journey to Rush (but are they really considered prog rock?). However, I definitely prefer Rush to other prog rock bands like Yes and King Crimson (I only have one album but I can't stand it TBH :?).

I like Genesis a lot too, they have a more electronic sound than Rush, which some prefer. I looooove Journey too, but I wouldn't consider them progressive. I like Yes a lot and King Crimson some as well, but Rush takes the cake for me.

Definitely, and I play that song on drums too (or try), it's pretty hard to get perfect.

I'm not really familiar with them, but I love playing Spirit of Radio. What an opening riff!

I'd suggest listening to them more, based on your musical preferences. They are sort of an acquired taste, since they're not as catchy as a lot of other bands are. But once you actually listen to the music all the way through, you realize how conceptual and musically stimulating their music is.
