Andy is now a young adult, departing for college, and his toys, including Woody and Buzz Lightyear are being sent to storage. Andy has a change of heart and decides to keep Woody. Before the rest of the toys can be put in the attic, they are accidentally thrown away and are picked up by the garbage men. The toys find themselves at a local day-care center, where they must try to survive the pre-school children. Woody attempts to save his friends and find themselves a new home.

Trailer, thanks for A5chow for the link:

Set for Release June 18, 2010.

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

Saw the poster for this the other night when I went to see Zombieland, can't believe it took them this long/they are actually doing it.

Don't get me wrong I loved the first two as a child, and had always heard rumors that this was coming, but it just seems un-needed now that it has been so long since the first two came out. That being said, i will go see it if enough of my friends want to go and if I can afford it.

This combined with Shrek 4, Beauty and the Beast 3D, The Last Airbender, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and the rumored Yogi Bear movie are making 2010 out to be Nostalgia Year at the movie theaters for me lol.

Thoughts on the sequel? Will any of you go see it even though it has been so long since the last entry in the series?

I guess I liked Toy Story when I was a kid, I just never understood the undying critical acclaim that everyone has for it. I guess I'll go see this one because everyone else wants to.

EDIT: June 18? Here I was thinking it'd be in a few months or something. That's 9 months away.

Yea, I know it's a ways away but i just saw the poster for it yesterday on my way out of the theater and didn't notice the "June 18" at the bottom of the poster until I looked up the article on Wikipedia to create this topic.

Plenty of time for speculation/discussion I guess?

The general reason for it being held in such high regard is that it was the first 3d animation and so it was seen as a technological feat. I remember someone saying that toy story "captured the youth of anyone who watched it". I guess it made everyone feel like a child again.

It's a continuation of the Toy Story plot. On top of that, it's a Pixar film so it's a definite trip to the theater for me. Unlike most animation studios, Pixar nails the balance between animation and story. Up is still one of the best films I have ever seen this year.

Holy crap, I can't believe it's already been 10 years since Toy Story 2.

Anyway I'll probably see it just because Toy Story was awesome and toy Story 2 wasn't disappointing.

I'm still very worried that it will suck, though.

Ditto. I liked Toy Story 2, the franchise hasn't gone in a bad direction since it, and thus far Toy Story 3 has given me no reason to avoid it. So I'll most likely end up seeing it!

I'll probably see it. Then cry upon realizing that I'm now an old man with bills and have no time for childish things. D:

Yea, that is a big push for me to not see it. That and I know it would be me, a friend or two, and a bunch of little kids in the theater lol.

I have a feeling that the majority of the people going to see it arent going to be kids.. I reckon the only kids that will be there are those whos parents couldnt find a babysitter.

Believe it or not, this is to prevent piracy. Try bringing a camcorder to a 3-D movie event; it just won't work. I'm also sure there are some theaters out there that will have a 2-D screening.
