RV Lounge Under New Management

Hey everyone!

Most of you are aware that I am the RV Lounge Manager, or more specifically, the person in charge of the policies of RV Lounge and how our official RuneScape Clan Chat Channel is handled. Over time, the channel has become a place where certain groups of people have a great time, but sometimes at the expense of the feelings of others. Even a handful of RV Lounge's own moderators have expressed disdain that the channel isn't the shining place it was at its outset, which causes a few to not want to moderate it at all. This simply should not be! Unfortunately, as my ability and/or drive to actively play RuneScape has dwindled in the past couple of years, being the manager of RV Lounge is very much more part of the problem than it is part of the solution. While I've tried to brainstorm ways and procedures to help the channel out and restore its former glory, it all comes right back to the fact that I simply don't play the game enough anymore to actively know exactly what is happening on a day-to-day basis, and thus, what needs to be changed, and what doesn't.

This is why, with the consent of the rest of the administration, I've selected Goten to take over for me as the new RV Lounge Manager. Goten has consistently and repeatedly proven himself to be a trustworthy villager with a firm grasp of how things currently are and how they should be handled, and I'm certain that he will do a fantastic job as the new RV Lounge Manager. This means that he'll be in charge of RV Lounge in general, including it's policies, moderator team, and methods of disciplining rulebreaking players. However, do note that while Goten will have near-full control of RV Lounge, he will not be in ownership of the account itself. We always have and still do take Account Sharing very seriously (if we didn't, we'd still be in RV CC instead of RV Lounge!) and as such I will still be maintaining the Moderator List and Banlist of the channel. But rest assured, if there's anything I've been able to do well in my nearly two years with the responsibility, it's keeping those lists updated with accuracy and no procrastination. :wink:

Many villagers hold the belief (and rightly so) that we should be trying our best to attract new people to RuneVillage. Think about it--when new people come to the Village, that means they're currently playing RuneScape. And that means that they'll undoubtably pop into RV Lounge and see what RuneVillage is all about! Thus, this new management of RV Lounge and the higher emphasis on the Clan Chat Channel itself is crucial to RuneVillage's future success.

Hey there, villagers!

First and foremost, I'd like to assure you all that MY REIGN OVER THE CLAN CHAT SHALL BE MERCILESS AND JUST. THE SOUL-WRENCHING CRIES OF THE TROLLS SHALL BE HEARD PIERCING THROUGH THE HEARTS OF OUR VILLAGE AND THE STREETS SHALL FLOW RED WITH THE BLOOD OF THE RULEBREAKERS.

Now that that's out of the way, allow me to fill you in on just what changes have been made to RV Lounge.

Rv Lounge Ranks:

(Clan Chat Leader) - Rv Lounge (Account)

(Captain) - All Admins + RVL Manager

(Lieutenant) - Clan Chat Moderators

As you can see, Clan Chat ranks will no longer vary depending on your rank here at RuneVillage. This is because we feel all moderators of RVL should be viewed equally. This is also accompanied by a change in how we appoint Clan Chat Moderators in general. Previously, any user with a "special rank" (legend/elder/staff/etc) on RuneVillage would be granted moderator rights within RVL. From this point forward, we will only be choosing new Clan Chat Moderators based on activity within the Lounge and how well we believe they would do as a moderator. Think of this as being similar to how Chat Moderators are chosen. All of our current active moderators within the Lounge will retain their moderator powers.

Rv Lounge Rules:

Rv Lounge Rules
1. All normal RuneScape rules apply. A list of these rules can be found here.
2. All RuneVillage rules apply. A list of these rules can be found here.
3. DO NOT evade a kick or ban from Rv Lounge by using an alternate account.
4. The language of Rv Lounge is English. While the occasional "Bonjour" or "Auf Wiedersehen" are fine, an entire non-English conversation is not. If you want to speak to a friend in an alternate language, please do so through private messaging rather than the Clan Chat.
5. If you have a problem with a particular user or one of RV Lounge's moderators, please bring it to the attention of the Rv Lounge Manager or an Administrator rather than voicing your concerns within the Clan Chat.
6. The spirit of RuneVillage should be represented within the Clan Chat. Please keep the Village Values in mind while in the Clan Chat.

Breaking any of these rules will result in a verbal warning and/or a kick (one hour ban) from the Clan Chat. Continued abuse will result in step ups and temporary/permanent bans. Also keep in mind that you can and will be reported and/or muted for breaking RuneScape rules within the Clan Chat.

These have remained unchanged for the most part. The difference here is that we will be implementing a Naughty Point/Step Up system for the Rv Lounge. It is important that you familiarize yourself with this new system.

Rv Lounge Punishment System
Naughty Points
NP (Naughty Points) are the system we use in Rv Lounge to determine "Step Ups". NP will accumulate through Verbal Warnings or Kicks made against a user. Upon collection of 5 NP, a user will receive a step up in the RVL punishment system and the associated ban time will be issued. NP will then be reset to 0 and add towards the next step if misbehavior continues.

* One NP will be removed from a user's record per week, assuming there have been no further behavioral problems.

Verbal Warning - One (1) Naughty Point
If a user is being disruptive in RVL, they will receive a Verbal Warning. This warning will be documented by the RVL Mod who issues it, and count as one NP towards a step up.
Kick - Two (2) Naughty Points
Continued disruptive behavior in RVL, or other forms of rule breaking, will warrant a kick from the Clan Chat. This is also a one hour ban, and will be documented by the RVL Mod who issues it. A kick from RVL counts as two NP towards a step up. If a user is kicked after being issued a warning, the NP from both offenses will be added together, resulting in three (3) NP total.

Note: Bypassing the one hour ban of a kick by entering RVL on a different account will count as an automatic step up. Continued bypasses will result in further steps.

The Rv Lounge Step System
(Step 1) First ban: 48 hours
(Step 2) Second ban: 1 week
(Step 3) Third ban: 1 month
(Step 4) Permanent ban

Note: Bypassing any of these ban periods by entering RVL on an alternate account will result in an automatic step up on both the Clan Chat and the forums. This means that, should you receive a ban that takes you from Step 1 to Step 2 in RV Lounge, and then intentionally bypass it, you will receive two step ups on the forums (one for the step up in the Clan Chat, and one for the ban evasion).

A user will be stepped down to the previous step after one month of good behavior. If a user has continual behavioral problems within the Clan Chat, they may remain at their current step until there is a noticeable change in attitude.

Rv Lounge to RuneVillage Forum Punishments
Disruptive behavior within the Clan Chat may carry over punishments to the forums. For every step up above Step 1 (Step 2 and upwards) a user receives within Rv Lounge, they will receive a step up on the forums as well.

As Jaron said, our main goal in these changes is to ensure a pleasant environment for everyone who wishes to use Rv Lounge. As long as you follow the rules and boast a positive attitude, these changes should mean no difference within the Lounge. It's only when our users misbehave that these changes will have an effect, and I hope that none of our users will do so.

So, all of these technicals aside, I hope you all continue to enjoy your stay in Rv Lounge - And I hope to see some new faces, as well!

I agree with what Jaron said. RV Lounge is a great opportunity and outlet for us to gain new members on Runevillage - I think a lot of the time the content and attitude of users (and I am not exempt from this on occasions btw) in there isn't exactly the greatest advertisement for Runevillage. Hopefully this shift in focus changes this for the better.

Users that have been permanently banned from the site/chat/clan chat are usually allowed to appeal after six (6) months of being banned.
