WARNING: There are known Lurers going down to Kings and killing people. Go at your own risk, if you see one (they are usually wearing verac or junk stuff that's easily noticable), I suggest you tele immediately. USE PRIVATE TO FRIENDS WHEN GOING TO AVOID LURERS ADDING YOU

Guide to Killing The Dagganother Kings:

About - This guide is to show you the ropes of how to effectively kill the King Dagganoths. I will show you how to get there, effective ways to kill them using each class, and also an emergency exit in case you forgot your teleport :D

*NOTE: Only Wear Expensive Gear if you know what you are doing, such as barrows armor, obsedian shields, whips, xbow, and fire cape. Meleers shouldn't have this big of a problem unless you use the guthan combo.

*NOTE: Minimum of TWO(2) People needed. No limit for maximum but people basically only go with 3 people max. 1 Per King. No shares.

*NOTE: Edit: High Detail is FIXED

If you Mage:

For Beginners:
ImageImage

For Experts:
Image
*Slayer Dart is the cheapest way to kill Rex, but also the slowest but your mage offense doens't matter on dart :D I usually bring 2,000 Death Runes & 4,000 Mind Runes. House Tablet for teleport.
Image
*God Spells are the fastest way to kill, but also the most expensive. God Spells are also the most likely to get kills.
Image
*Ice Burst is decent, at least it freezes rex :D Also need mage bonus, such as -10. Same as God Spells.

 Ice Burst and God Spells need a mage bonus, not a big one but a decent one. Wearing whats in the pics, you will have -10 and will rarely splash. Slayer dart it doesn't matter what the bonus is. Use the guthan spear to heal when you need to.

Desciption:

What Mages Kill - Dagganoth King Rex.

Image

Hit Points: 332 Hit Points
Max Hit: 30
Weak Against: Magic

Drops: 100% Dagganoth Bones Image, 100% Dagganoth Hide.

Examine - Firstborn of the Legendary Dagganoth Kings.

Rare Drops Include:

Warrior Ring Image

Beserker Ring Image

Dragon Axe Image

The mage is ONLY suitable for Dagganoth King REX. He has very low Magic defence, decent melee and high range defence. King REX has such low magic defence that you can wear anything and rarely splash! Wearing verac armor is best because it also adds prayer bonus. Otherwise use guthan. Using verac will give you supurb range def, and small magic defence. You will splash against King REX maybe 1 out of 10 times, but otherwise it's very good to use. Wearing Ahrims or Mystic will get you shreaded by the surrounding enemies. Whichever Prayer you use depends on whats attacking you. NEVER use melee protect. Rex is the only one who can do that, and you usually have a mager that can freeze him.

Rex isn't that much of a threat as long as you have an ancient mage to freeze him. Mages can stay a lot longer than meleers and rangers if you use a safe spot (so others don't attack you).

If you Melee:

Beginner:
ImageImage

Expert (Range\melee combo):
Image

 It's best to wait until prime is dead before you assault Supreme, as it will save you food. Use mage protect if Prime is alive and range protect if he's dead, and have a sense of when to switch to mage protect if Prime is about to spawn :) Use the Spear to heal when needed and dagger for specials. Also Use 15% Str or 10% Attack & Strength until you're low on prayer pots.

Use D hally & G spear to kill supreme if both of you are hybriding.

Description:

What Meleers Kill - Dagganoth King Supreme.

Image

Hit Points: 255 Hit Points
Max Hit: 30
Weak Against: Melee

Drops: 100% Dagganoth Bones Image, 100% Dagganoth Hide.

Examine - The Dagganoth King responsible for the death of the Bukalla.

Rare Drops Include:

seercull bow Image

Archer Ring Image

Dragon Axe Image

Meleers are most suitable for killing King Surpreme. King Surpreme has very low melee defence, decent range defence, and high magic defence. Use Magic Protect when the King Prime is attacking you, and use helm/spear to heal on King Surpreme (if you get hit and are low hp, go ahead and eat a shark or 2). If King Prime is dead, then you can use range prayer at will.

You can help others by attacking prime and rex, and use appropriate prayer, but you won't do much damage to others.

King Surpreme's attack consists of biggers spins that lvl 90 dagganoth attack you with. The one add-on is that they splash like the Kalphite Queens Spines. It's best to spread out for minimal damage. If King Prime is dead, use ranged protect. If Prime is attacking you, use magic (if you have a few rangers near his respawn Prime shouldn't attack you).

If you Range:

Beginner:
ImageImage

Expert:
Image

 Stay in the northeast corner as far as possible to avoid having supreme attack you. Usually use magic protect, but if prime attacks someone else and he never looks at you (he shifts back and forth if you're in range) then you can just use range protect to help against the lvl 78s. The Telegrabs are for getting your drops in case there are no meleers. Use Guthans when you need to heal.

Description:

What Rangers Kill - Dagganoth King Prime.

Image

Hit Points: 255 Hit Points
Max Hit: 50
Weak Against: Ranged

Drops: 100% Dagganoth Bones Image, 100% Dagganoth Hide.

Examine - A Legendary Dagganoth King, rumoured to fly on the north winds.

Rare Drops Include:

Seers Ring Image

Mud Staff Image

Dragon Axe Image

Rangers are best suited for killing King Prime. Prime has very low Range defence, decent melee defence, and high magic defence. Use Magic Protect against him at all costs, and use range protect when he is dead. Tend to stay at the opposite side of the entrance to avoid being hit when he first spawns. One Prime is dead, feel free to help out your other team, but you really would just be wasting ammo.

Prime shoots a Super Water Wave at you and can only hit one person at a time. If you are on HIGH detail, you need to switch to LOW detail. There is a glitch where if he attacks you on high detail, he'll lag you right before the blast hits you.

*Note: King Dagganoth bones give 125xp to prayer, and 500 through ecto. I suggest saving these up if you go a lot and then ecto them. WELL worth it :)

Getting to the Dagganoth Kings:

After you have determined what King you are going to kill, and your group is ready to head out, go ahead and head up to Relekka. Get to the boat and you'll be taken to the island. When your group is all re-assembled, follow the path and you'll come to the Caves, and enter. You can either run at this point or walk to the gates.

Image

Keep going until you come up upon three gates. Now, theres three gates to choose from. 1 on the north side, 1 on east side, and 1 on south side. In order to access the gates, you need to have two people go through one gate and two others go through another, then have a mage or ranger knock down the barricade and then meleers knock down others.

*Note - If you only have 2 people, both of you need to open one gate and then both of you run to another gate, having 1 of you going through that one and the other running back through the other. The gates close about after 30 seconds of being open.

Once you get to the center, you have two ladders that go up and down. Going up is just back to the island (you can go back down though). Going down leads to the Dagganoth Kings. Use the map to determine which prayers to use. I suggest using range prayer on the sections and run through them. Walk through the mage protect areas. Keep going until you get to the lair.

When in the arena, there are Spinolyp's around the area that shoot you with range and magic (it's random). The ranged will poison you no matter what if it hits or not, and it's up to you to choose which prayer you're using (if you're meleeing/ranging you should have mage on unless King Prime is dead).

Picture of Spinolyp:

Image

Exiting the Dagganoth Caves:

If you forgot your teleport out of the Caves, you can treverse back up the Lair ladder and head east behind it and follow the path of ladders up to the lighhouse Dagannoth Area. Again, Use the map for directions :)

What? I never saw one <_<

I told you why. He has extremely low mage def so u can mage in anything :D plus it gives range def so u dont get owned by the range guys.

Don't understand something though: About the melee set up, if you're going to use a beserker helm and whip/obby shield, then why use guthan plate and skirt? You aren't getting a healing bonus, and doesn't torag have better defense? Plus Torag is cheaper...

I only have beserker in the pic because I didn't have warrior

Also, you would have guthan helm/spear in inventory. You can substitute 2 sharks for it. If you want to try to heal off guthans, u can try that. I've always maged rex, so I don't know much about other 2.

Theres also a safe spot for maging rex, but I'm not too keen to reveal it. Then everyone will go with a 2-man team and get richer :?

oh and guthan is 10 less armor than torag...so really torag is really useless.

yup very nice,

except despite being maybe a bit more expensive, isn't the best option to mage and freeze rex? or is the safe spot good enough that you won't get hit at all by him, but he won't go wondering off attacking the others either?

Another thing is i noticed the other day - if your 83 farming and have a spirit tree seed handy (yes i know, not very many people do), then if you want to plant it on miscelania and then that cuts down all the time walking to relleka.

Also you can solo as a mage, but its very difficult :P

Yes you can solo rex in the safe spot. You can use freezing spells. As long as your meleers don't be stupid and hang out where rex spawns, he won't go to them and he'll come to you and you can just stay in the safe spot.

I will NOT reveal the safe spot, as I do not want it revealed. You have to find it yourself :) (Please, no one post a picture of it)

Spirit tree isnt necessary. Lyre is shorter distance. better to walk up to kings anyways.

You combine it. I almost died editing the first guide thanks to formality and bad grammar, you know?

I agree, I keep 13 Lyre's in the bank, it cuts down the walking going to Rellika and it brings you back, then just walk to Seers Village.

I dont know why more people don't use it.
