I'm unable to do the digsite quest - at least the part where you need to get the key..
Okay, so I got the tailsman thing, gave it to the expert to identify it. Then I went to the private winch, gave the letter.
Then I went down with my rope, and I took the root. Then I talked to Doug Deeping, but I don't get any option to beg for the key after I press "I'm invited to...".
I only get the option to ask for a specimen jar, or "I have things to do".
Can anyone help?

Okay never mind. Solved it myself.
Maybe you guys can add this into your guide:
Go into the other shaft (south west of the private shaft). Go down it, then "search rocks", or something like that.
Now you can go ask for the key, don't have to beg for it, he'll just give it to you.
