Ok, I've not actually thought about and written a poem in a long while, so here goes. Looking for comments, crits and interpretations if you have any.

Dreaming

As I lie here in a bed of silk,
I dream of life,
Of joyful times I had,
And of peaceful times that were,
I often dreamed of now,
Of what life would be, after,
And now as I lie here in a bed of silk,
I dream,
Of a past life.

wow... i thought it might have been a metaphor for your thoughts...
but now u said it was a coffin... its not such a nice poem...
that is true poetry... you make it seem like one thing, but then if you search for the deeper meaning, its not that nice...

Thank you very much, I guess it's really what you make it, any piece of literature is always open to other interpretations I think, things can make sense in many different ways, and this means that some pieces of writing can be more personal to you, because you relate to it in different ways.

I wouldn't want to set in stone what the poem means, as that's really up to the reader, but when I was writing it I had the idea of a dead man, lying in a coffin dreaming of his past life, but like I said, it's really what you make it.

And masterclass? Nice thought, but I don't think so myself hehe, I wrote this with nothing in mind except one idea, no literary devices being used specifically, no thoughts on structure. So it's really just a bit of random free verse

More? Perhaps, I've nothing in mind at the moment

As a human

As a human I dream,
I dream of the normal,
I dream of the abnormal,
I dream of all that is natural,
I dream of the unnatural,
I dream of the supernatural,
I dream of love,

Of hate.

As a human I realize,
I realize that the normal,
I realize the abnormal,
I realize the natural,
I realize the unnatural,
I realize the supernatural,
I realize love,

Is irrelevant.

As a human I realize one thing,
But one thing that is important,
And that which matters most,
And it is not the normal,
The abnormal,
The natural,
The supernatural,
Or the feeling of love,

As a human I realize,
I am human.

not bad... that is good... sometimes i think the repetition can be a little monotonous... im not saying its bad... but a little critique is always a good thing to work on
i like how you start off with a dream and you realise that it isnt quite so good... i like poems that relate to a time frame, very nice =)

Heh, I hear what you say about repetition, but I quite like the rhythm it gives when used correctly, I've not exactly got the hang of it though

Still always room for improvement
