====================================== Earl: ====================================== Gregory awoke to see Natoneya kneeling over him. "Who are you, woman?" he said softly, trying to hide his confusion and pain. "I am Natoneya, the village physician." She lifted up and pointed outside. "Our fisherman found you lying on the beach not far from here. Can you be sitting up yet?"
As Natoneya spoke, images of Gregory's family ran through his mind. Her face, her accent, they seemed somehow familiar to Gregory. "I can try" he said at last. After struggling for a while, he was able to support himself up on one arm. Natoneya nodded, "your arm is broken. You'll be needing time for it to heal." Not wishing to argue, Gregory laid back down.
While this was going on, Gualbert felt some strength returning to his body and tried to stand. When satisfied with Gregory's condition, Natoneya helped him to his feet. "Good," she said, "you are getting stronger." "I would like to walk around some, Natoneya," Gualbert said rather forcefully." Natoneya laughed, "alright, alright, but don't be getting too far from the village. Your still in bad shape."
So Gualbert left the hut, and returned under the open sky. It was about noon, and the sun's rays beat upon his tired body. Looking around, he noticed a light-skinned man walking on the beach. Elvish, almost, in appearance. It was a wonder he saw him, so much like the sand did he appear. The he remembered Endil was with them. ====================================== Kikori: ====================================== Lamont relished the fact that shore was finally getting close, having to rely completely on his upper body for support after the crash during the storm... He remembered managing to hang onto a good-sized section of the ship, where he dug in his swords, and found himself floating slowly inland with the tide. After a while he decided the tide was moving too slow and abandoned the wood, spinning himself in a corkskrew fashion, blades in hand and tilted to act like blades of a propeller.
Five minutes later, his muscles were starting to tire and his stomach growl as he continued a steady, but slightly slow, roll through the water, his legs doing their best to stay stiff behind him. Land was definately closer than it was before, and getting even quicker... Lamont stopped to look back over himself to find the driftwood he rode for a while to be a long ways behind him. As Lamont got back to rotating to get to shore, he felt the spin stop and him topple slowly over in a frontflip in the water, his blade held down by something... The shore? He tried again with his other blade, and it connected the same way, but with Lamont rolling sideways so he didn't tumble in the water again.
Lamont continued rolling, sideways this time, until it became impossible due to his swords and arms being out of the water upon rolling. He seathed his swords and laid out on his back, gently using his arms to keep himself afloat as the tide washed him in, hoping someone would notice him to help. ====================================== Chipp: ====================================== Jargg pulled himself up out of a pile of driftwood, his armor had saved him from impalement by the wood spars but almost had drowned him because of the weight of the metal rings and short swords. He shed his armor so that he wore a padded leather tunic, he found his bag a little farther away a miracle that it had made it through the storm. He pulled out his long silver hooded cloak and put it on. He grabbed his spear from underneath some wood and detached the spear head. He carefully dried his chain mail with his cloak and put it in his bag, he did likewise with his daggers but kept the daggers on his belt and then swung his bag onto his back under his cloak.
Jargg then began walking along the beach looking for any survivors if there were any at all, he looked like a casual traveler with his cloak and "walking stick" or staff as he liked to call it. He caught a glimpse of Lamont a ways off and kind of made a shambling run toward the body, he hadn't noticed before but the driftwood had cut him slightly on his legs in various places. "Having a little bit of trouble, eh?" Jargg asked as he waded into the water a little bit and stuck out his staff to pull Lamont in.
After safely pulling Lamont in to safety Jargg sat down on the sand and grimaced when pain shot through his legs from the sand getting in his cuts. "Well I don't know exactly what we are supposed to do now, I don't know where anyone is, I suppose we'll just wait". and he laid back in the sand and stared up into the sky. ====================================== Earl: ====================================== Gualbert felt his heart jump as he watched Jargg help Lamont from outside the hut. Still, he did not know if these people could be trusted, and as such out-wardly only showed a casual interest. Surly no one would know... yet Gualbert had seen stranger things happen.
Quietly Gualbert went over who still needed to be found: “Vevis… Azu and his crew… Thomas and oh, what was her name? Tammy – yes, Tammy I believe. Wolem also…” Gualbert did not fear much for Wolem however, he had seen that creature escape from worse situations than this, though… this storm was different. Few sailors had seen such and storm and lived, Gualbert reckoned. He shivered.
“Yet we have made it, and we shall endure,” said a melancholy, familiar voice behind Gualbert. Turning, he saw Gregory leaning upon some-sort of crutch. “You know me well, Gregory.” “It is not the first time I have seen such a face,” said Gregory, “I have been in battles when only a few survived. Those who did looked much as you are now. Do not despair Gualbert, for we are to be the exile’s hope. This party has made you their leader – lead them to Tempos.”
“You sound as if you aren’t coming, Gregory.” Gregory sighed, “I’m badly hurt. It’s a great strain for me just to come out here. I… I’m… it’s going to take me a good while to heal. I will slow you down.” Gualbert could say nothing; he knew well Gregory was telling the truth. He must gather whoever survived and push forward…
It had been a month since they left for Tempos. Being fairly acquainted with the sea, and periodically checking with Azu as to their ship’s present location, Gualbert guessed they had crashed some fifteen to thirty miles from Tempos as the crow flies. It would be hard journey across the swampy marshes of the outlands, but they could make good time assuming nothing went terribly wrong... ====================================== Sm12905: ====================================== Endil saw Gualbert and Gregory standing outside one of the huts. Making one of his usual hasty decisions he leaped down from the tree he was standing in and walked toward him “Has anyone else survived?” he asked.
OOC: Endil hasn’t realized Lamont and Jargg survived. Elf ears do not work well while waterlogged. ====================================== Top: ====================================== OOC: Alright, I've been persuaded into 're-joining' this topic. In case you forgot, I was Vevis. Just assume I was in the back of the party doing random plot-related things ^_^...
Earl, think you could write me back in? I've been gone for a while and it would be sorta hard for me to just reappear without disrupting a plot I lost track of... ====================================== Earl: ====================================== OOC: Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while. Glad to see you back Top... yeah, I remember Vevis - how could I forget the guy who helped us defeat Cear Duldrae? So... as far as what's up: Well, after Bal'doll betrayed our party at the castle we retreated to Port Greenwater to meet up with the rebel forces in Tempos across the sea. After meeting Endil at Greenwater, Thomas and Tamsin found us a ship we could use to make the sea-voyage to Tempos. Our ship was attacked by pirates however, and just before victory, was caught up in a storm that wrecked us. Now we are scattered, trying to find each other on this foreign beach some fifteen to thirty miles from Tempos (as the crow flies).
====================================== Earl: New Post! ====================================== Gualbert was a bit surprised when he saw Endil come down close to him. "Survived?" Gualbert said, "Yes, many of us did. Look, tell me what your elf eyes see!" Gualbert pointed to each of the party members he had noticed around the outskirts of the village. "I can't see them that well, but I believe that's Jargg, Lamont, and Vevis. Gregory is inside that hut here." He nodded toward the medicine hut. "I hope they see us soon, we need to be on the move." Waving at Jargg and Lamont, Gregory started his way down to the shore.
