History of the FlowersNot much is known about how the special flowers came to be, but after researching several books on Baxtorian and elven culture, I have pieced together what may be the history of Baxtorian's Flowers and the Mithril Seeds. Long ago, sometime in the Second Age, there was an elven king named Baxtorian. He and his wife Glarial were said to have been together for over a century. They lived together and spent much time learning about nature and helping to preserve it. They made a home for each other under a waterfall north of present-day Ardougne. However, at one time, dark forces and enemies of Glielinor started to invade the realm (God wars?), and Baxtorian left on a 5-year campaign to preserve the land. When he returned, he found that his people had been killed and that Glarial had been taken by the enemy. He searched year after year for his love until finally he gave up and returned to their home under the waterfall. It is said that once he went in he never came out. Only Glarial had the power to enter the waterfall, no one else. Baxtorian and Glarial were masters of nature. They could sculpt mountains, dig valleys, and create entire rivers at will. They also perfected rune lore, but that's another story. The story behind how they created the mithril seeds is not clear, but as far as I could gather Glarial's favorite creation was her flowers. She loved to walk in the spring and see the flowers blossom around her. The flower was the most revered and respected of all plants. However, once she was kidnapped, the flower lost its glory and became the sad generation we see today. When Baxtorian went back to his home under the waterfall, he remembered the flowers and imbued their power into special seeds made from mithril as a token to Glarial. (Another theory is that Guthix saw what had happened and it was he who created the seeds.) When Baxtorian died, word of the seeds and the treasure somehow leaked out into the countryside. People would attempt to dig into the waterfall in an attempt to find the treasure. The power of the waterfall, however, cannot be outmatched, so Baxtorian's treasure was never to be found. Far later, after the Third Age, some very strong and determined adventurers found that by harnessing the power of a special amulet discovered in Glarial's tomb south of the waterfall, they could enter the waterfall and find the hidden treasure of Baxtorian. The mithril seeds were plenty, but each adventurer took only 40 of the seeds so further generations may experience the treasure. When planted, the seeds sprung up instantaneously and brought forth the fabled flowers of old. The Legends Guild soon took sight of the treasure, and began to sell them to other Legends Guild members. The treasure of Baxtorian was finally found. More information on Baxtorian, Glarial, and the treasure may be obtained by reading the Book on Baxtorian obtained during the Waterfall quest.
