Predator Part 1

The bell rang signaling the end of school for Joey. He quickly grabbed his math sheet and stuffed it in his bag, not caring if it would get ripped. Joey was a somewhat misunderstood teenager. He liked video games and sports, but he didn't have many friends. He kicked the door the get out of school, trying to impress one of the girls he liked, Jess. She was a soccer player for the school team, very popular and cute. All the guys wanted to be her boyfriend.

Joey lived very close to the school. Three minutes of walking down a path and he was at his apartment complex. As soon as he arrived home, he dropped his bag at the bottom of the stairs, said "Hey mom, I'm home," and dashed up to his room, taking a seat at his computer desk.

Joey loved to play a game called RuneScape. It was an MMORPG, or Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. He loved games where he could fight monsters and make friends online. He considered RuneScape the only place he could find peace and have fun at the same time. He logged on and checked his friends list. Two people were online: Alpha892 and Du Pont. They were both players from Joey's clan, Night Riders."Hey, got that d square yet?" he typed to Du Pont."No," Du Pont replied quickly. Joey teleported to Camelot to do some woodcutting."So, what happened to the money? I thought you had enough for the d square yesterday." Joey waited two minutes before Du Pont replied."The clan went on a small clan wars trip today and I spent some money on sharks. I'm mining rune to make the money back." Right after the message was sent, Du Pont logged off. Joey figured he was changing world, "JOESPH!" he heard his mom call from downstairs."COMING!" he yelled back. Joey knew he was in trouble. His mom only addressed him as Joseph for very serious matters.

He raced down the stairs, skipping a few steps at the bottom."Yeah?" he said as he turned into the kitchen. His mom was seated at the table with the phone in her hand. She then pressed the speaker-phone button and he listened to his teacher, Ms. Krupi, say he failed his science test with a 32 percent."Joseph, I've told you about this before, study for your tests instead of playing video games!" She sounded angry, yet calm; a very chilly tone of voice. He stood there for a few moments."You're banned from the computer, your Xbox and your GameBoy until I see improvement in your marks," his mother said. Joey knew there was no use in arguing with her, she always won. He turned around and walked slowly up the stairs, defeated.

He heard the front door open and close as he was lying down on his bed. "Mom's gone, I need to tell everyone I'm grounded," he said to himself in a whisper. He sat in his computer chair and logged on to RuneScape.

As soon as he logged in he got a message from Uehara655, a player he couldn't recall meeting. "Hello Joseph."Joey's eyes grew wide, no one ever called him by his real name. "Who is this? And how do you know my real name?"Uehara replied quickly, "I know you, but we've never met." Joey was confused at this point and he couldn't come up with anything to say for about twenty seconds."Who are you!?" Ten seconds passed before the next reply."Your worst nightmare."
