I thought the mafia-villager ratio was usually 1:3...

Notice how this is the first mafia game in ages that I haven't been in, and the villagers lose? Coincidence?

Can't believe we won despite having three villager roles all but confirmed. :spite:

Excessive ratio was excessive. 1:3 or 1:4 is supposed to be mafia to town, not mafia to whole. Mafia to town, this game started at something like 1:1.8.

No worries though, it was still a generally good game, although lynching Monk was a facepalm. Wasn't around at all that day after my first post, wish I could have been more active. :|

Mafia to town ratio was 1:2.2

Mafia to total ratio was 1:3.2

Wasn't excessive at all.

I concur. We must lynch him now for the sake of the metagame, we MUST teach people that they can't go around claiming "anniversary" and expect leniency. Topsummoner.

There were sixteen players total.
Five of them were mafia.

5:16 = 1.32, meaning three villagers per mafia.
A regular ratio would have been 4:16, meaning a perfect 1:4 game.

Look at it from a different perspective. To win a flawless game, the mafia would require ten people to be alive; a mere six to die. That means that, by lnyches and night kills alone, the game could have ended in three days. Add in possible (and proven, in Tanks' case) vigilante kills, two days. For sixteen players, that's quite ridiculous, in my opinion.

Who is to say 1:4 mafia to total is perfect? This game was 1:3.2, and the town had three power roles. There was no problem in balance with this game. The only problem was Tahu confirming some players, and the village's inability to lynch any mafia.

Thought there were 14 total, not 16. That makes it 1:2.2 as you said. Again, those are still hard odds. As i said, a good balance is between 1:3 and 1:4, depending on power roles/third parties. 4 mafia would be 1:3, which would have been perfect with the roles in this game.

Also, Tahu, can you post the role list/descriptions for any new roles?

No new roles. All of them are just what they sound like. But yeah, I was thinking 1:4--1:3 was mafia:total. My bad.
I still think the town's biggest mistake was not getting a lynch D2. Also, I'm surprised you not only believed Thyker when he claimed detective when you already had a dead one and Kikori tried to protect him after Monk had come up innocent.

It's not unprecedented that we have more than one detective, I recall a main game where frank and I were both detectives. One of us was sane and the other was insane.

But yeah, not to whine but it does seem now that the ratio was a bit off. After I had realized that the town had killed 2 scum I thought out win was inevitable, but meh. Pretty good lying on the mafia's part. Paidea and blue are both lucky I died so early. :weird:
