The Draft
Ever wish you didn't have Jackstick on your mafia team to screw things up? Don't you wonder what would happen if you ended up as a cultist with Ziegfeld? What about being a mason with Jaron? Maybe you're plain tired of someone rambling about the meta-game, and you want to kill him for once. If only you could choose your own teammates...

In this mafia variant, three lucky players will be given the role of Drafter. These players will each command a team: A, B, and C. The game will begin with a “safe” day one, in which no lynch will take place. Instead, every player participating in the game is allowed one post to persuade the Drafters into drafting them (the Drafters themselves should also fake a persuasion post to avoid detection, see below). Once the day is over, each Drafter will submit a list of every player participating in the game, ordered in a manner stating which players they would prefer on their team. Before the next day, every player will know to which team they have been drafted, as well as who their teammates are.

A team wins when all other players from the two rivals have died. However, a mafia faction still exists, and will win when they and the town have the same number of players alive, in addition to eliminating all cultists. Yes, a lone cult leader lurks in the shadows, and the cult will win when the majority of players alive are cultists. Indeed, even the town can bind together and aim for a victory. Therefore, the central conflict revolving around this variant arises: will you strive to win with your team, or with your faction?.

At night, players will be permitted to converse with both their teammates, as well as players within their faction, if they belong to one. Another piece to the puzzle falls into the team strategy – because players are given their role assignments prior to day one and are allowed to role claim in their persuasion posts, the Drafters have an important decision to make. Do they draft the stronger, smarter, and more experienced players, or do they trust the word of a claimed doctor, albeit not as skilled as other players?

As always, expect the unexpected. Several surprises and new roles lie await!
