Looking for a good book series to read for my next underway on the submarine.

I would like it to be matched to the Sword of Truth series, or the Artemis Fowl tales. Anyone got any suggestions? I never seem to be good at finding books on my own, so I figured I would try to find a good series from you guys.

The Alex Rider series, or Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series.

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

The only course of action available to you is to reread the Sword of Truth series.

Duh.

I enjoyed the "Mortal Instrument" series, I think it was called. The first book is "City of Bones"

I don't read a lot of fantasy, so all I can suggest is The Dark Tower.

This is what I was going to suggest. It's sort of kiddish, but I loved it, and couldn't put them down. They're even better if you know a little about Greek Mythology.

The Dark Tower Series is fantastically epic.

+1

I enjoyed the Redwall series by Brian Jacques but that was back in middle school, lol. Also, you have to read LOTR if you haven't already. It's only THE fantasy series.

The Redwall Series is still good, I just don't think I could read them in public anymore... :shifty:

That makes me feel a little better. I had read the whole series in middle school and he's since come out with more books, and I had thought about reading/buying them but then decided not to.

But yeah, the series is nothing short of awesome.

I don't know. I recognize it's a good series, but I couldn't get past the fourth book. It failed to maintain my interest at that point, and he spent so much time describing things. "Alright. Massive cloud over a golden city in the desert. I get it. Can we move on?"

Honestly, Wiz, I personally suggest George R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire as my number one favorite novel series. The whole book is very clever with some dark humor and irony that can just make you cry sometimes. It doesn't mess around with childish things and take a very mature approach to fantasy. Read these books, you won't be disappointed.

The six books in the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series, and the Dirk Gently books, all by Douglas Adams.

Oh, and by the way, I just recently started writing a book based on Celtic mythology, featuring Myrddin
