Once apon a time, a man who made frames for a living, a janitor and a taxi driver were playing pool together. "Yknow, I'm really bored. Want to kill everyone?"

"Sounds epic. We could be like... a mafia almost."

"An Epic Mafia?"

"AWESOME"

But the bartender overheard them. He quickly scribbled a note down before the driver pulled out his gun and shot the bartender between the eyes.

----

The next evening, a villager enters the bar looking to get a drink, but only finds the dead bartender and his note.

'Warning! Three men plan to murder the town! You must stop them before it is too late! Their names are-' but the message is cut off there.

The villager quickly informs the rest of the village of the note, and they agree to hold a meeting at first light. The villagers proceed to bed... unaware that the Epic Mafia will make their first strike tonight.

Night Zero begins. Night roles, PM me.

The night phase has begun!

You should probably reveal the role list for this game.

Drunk (Roleblocker)

Mafia -
Framer (Makes target appear guilty to investigations)
Janitor (Can clean up one nightkill, learning the target's role and hiding it from the town)
Driver (Switches whoever targeted his two targets. Any driving that makes someone target a person who they normally can't target is ineffectual. ie you can't make a mafia kill one of his own)

Night Zero ends.

The villagers arrive at the town square. Nobody appears to be dead, but regardless the village starts their meeting.

Day One Begins. Nine players remain.

Reminder: The day ends when everyone has voted. When all but one person has voted, a 24-hour timer is automatically placed. When that timer runs out, you may PM the host to Kick-Lynch any non-voting players. No Lynches are allowed.

Also a Note: In the case of a successful protection, the attacked player will not be told. In addition, if the bodyguard dies, it will not be told whether it was from attack or from defending someone.

The Day Phase has begun!

LOL. Okay, so we need to the cop claim right now to ensure he/she has bodyguard AND watcher protection, REGARDLESS IF COP HAS MAFIA REPORT. Also, mafia, it's not the wisest decision for you to no-kill night one because when you use your janitor role you have chance of hitting the cop/bodyguard/watcher which allows you to claim and possibly get another player lynched. Also, we have a mislynch today so if cop has a guilty we do not need to worry as much about the framer.

TL;DR Cop claims today, if he/she has inno, we nl, if he/she has guilty then we lynch.

I'm with Tanks here, the investigatory roles should never be revealed until some spying has been done so that they have say info on the alignment of 2 or more people. At the moment the detective or whatever is masked behind everyone. If he outs himself he won't be able to declare who he's id'ing because of the framer, also once he's outed it'll only be a matter of time before the doctor gets killed and then the cop is dead next turn almost inevitably.

*sigh*

Okay, let me explain it as quickly as possible. Let's say the cop does NOT claim today, then what about tomorrow night if the mafia uses their janitor ability and happens to hit the cop, then what would we be left with? We would be left with a mafia claiming cop and the town being in somewhat of a confusion. But wait, what if the "cop" fakes a guilty report on the bodyguard? Then the bodyguard claims and MAYBE a mafia cc's or somebody could claim that bodyguard is janned or framed. Or let's say the watcher figures that the cop wasn't on the player of choice, then we would be left with either a janned cop or a janned watcher.

Now if the cop claims today here is probably what will happen: we get an inno report, we nl. Mafia either attacks the cop directly and takes out the bodyguard or they figure out how to use the driver role and kill the cop without any regard to the bodyguard. So the cop is dead, woopee, BUT, now we have the driver because of watcher report, which is probably the most important role to get out of the way. So now we have 1 mafia down and 1 cop down, bodyguard is on the watcher and either the watcher watches self to clear any cc's that the mafia may have with bodyguard or is on somebody to watch if mafia attacks them. Now if the watcher doesn't catch anybody after catching the driver then we have scumhunting and looking for teams, but we have a clear who may moderate the whole thing and having a clear gives us an advantage.

First of all, don't try to patronise me or Tanks with your "*sigh*" frankly I find it quite offensive and unnecessary, especially considering I've played this game a lot, I'm not an idiot and I'm damn sure Tanks isn't either.

Secondly you are reading ridiculously far into this for day 1, it's almost as if you're playing a chess game 30 moves ahead of yourself. Any deviation by the mafia away from what you're hypothesising will produce much different results. And considering you've just revealed what would be a grand plan for the mafia I highly doubt they'll follow along the lines. If I was mafia I'd work a way round the problem you've posed.

You've got to remember that luck plays an influential part in this game.

Have you? I hope you do realize that this variant of mafia is supposed to be played with a completely different style, you don't just wait until a power role comes up with a report. Actually, with the fact that no role was janitored last night makes this game insanely town sided for we know that ALL power roles are alive and it gives us another night of investigation from the cop.

I never said you or Tanks were idiots, I'm just explaining that you know how to play a different variant of Mafia, but you are in no way experienced in THIS version of the game.

Obviously not in this variant of the game, half the variants that are played on RV are made up on the spot, so how would expect people to be experienced with them. I was obviously referring to the general logic and methodology with which you play mafia.

To be honest this is why I don't play mafia outside of legends, some people think they're so above everyone else. At least the legends forum understands courtesy and general respect.

I agree with Aragorn, mentos. There's no need to talk down to us because of your epicmafia experience. If anything, you're a complete nerd for playing mafia so often and so seriously. :P And it isn't like this variant is such a mystery that you and only you know how to play. I'm sure us lowly RV mafia players can figure it out. Top, paidea, myself, and others have played on epicmafia or other mafia sites as well, and you don't hear us talking down to people. You aren't better than us, if you want to check track records, there are MANY people around here who have successfully called out mafia/won games more than you. So take it easy.

Anyway, we don't need this bickering either. It isn't serving anyone besides the mafia.

On the flipside, I can actually see what mentos is saying. In layman's terms, If the detective claims now, the watcher and the bodyguard can both be on him. This will either

1. Deter the mafia from attacking him altogether, and hand the game to the town or
2. The mafia will get brave and attack him, in which case he will be saved and the bodyguard may/may not die, but regardless, the watcher will see who the attacker was and we'll know the name of a mafioso.

The only Fuzzy Bunny in the chain is with this type of variant, it would be really advantageous for the mafia to falsely claim cop or even falsely counterclaim cop. :?:

So roles, decide for yourselves and BE CAREFUL.

Olol, I got bleeped for saying Fuzzy Bunny.

As in a racial slur aimed at a Chinese person, but I said it in the context of a _____ in the chain.

That's amusing.

Hmm, was I coming off as pompous? Anyway, since you have brought up my experience on EpicMafia I should explain as to why I am being *arrogant* with how I *think* this should be played. On EpicMafia this is my favorite setup ever, I love playing it for whatever reason, it just draws me to it. Due to that I've seen many strategies and how the days play out based on the result of the first night. This is what I feel would be the best strategy and is why I am pushing so hard for it.

*WARNING, ARROGANCE HERE*
I'm going to be a jerk-wad and put this very bluntly. In no way do I think I am better at playing forum mafia than any of you and I respect that many of the players on this site are good at reading others, hell I get bored with a lot of the games and I sit back and just let it play out. But with this exact setup and how the game is setup I do believe I am better than many of you because I've played the exact setup with the exact rules so many times.
*END ARROGANCE, KINDA*

Also, lander, it's odd you call me a nerd for playing Epicmafia. :/ I guess it was the same issue for people that played WoW calling people that played Runescape, nerds.
