This is already the only rule I bother enforcing, and it's not even technically in the rules.

Sounds like you believe there's only spam in mafia threads. Look all over the forums, I consider forum games to be spam that just add to post count and other general threads contain spam.

Those spam posts as you call them still add to the game, sometimes as the game progresses further you can look back to them along with posts from other days to see a really obvious tell from someone.

If you are worried about people playing games and passing your post count then a simple solution would be to hid post count for everyone. Then you can stop worrying about a silly number in other peoples profiles.

I always liked how the rules seemed to be there as general guidelines and weren't shoved down our throats. You can argue that if there are rules they should be enforced, but if they were all enforced as tightly as you seem to want it would kill Runevillage even faster.

Example of spam, landers triple-posted in the space of 2 minutes for what seems like no reason, I dont see how it is furthering the game at all :P

That was just him spamming to be funny. He failed miserably.

Most posts in mafia aren't like that. Any x# posts normally add to the topic.

If you don't think it's spam, you're ignorant. If you really care about it being spam, you've got messed up priorities.

I really wasn't going to post in this thread seeing as how the general consensus is that occasional spam won't kill people and that post count is just post count. The fact that you've trolled the mafia game to find examples to support yourself is kind of ridiculous. :?: First of all, you don't even play mafia so you have no real reason to complain about spam posts within it, which means your reason for complaint must have something to do with post count, which is equally ridiculous.

And anyway, Sarah, if you want to get super technical here, you could potentially read into those posts as related to the game of mafia. There could be a correlation between being mafia and spamming, the mafia want to lead the town astray and what better way to do it then to spam a lot? NEVER assume that ANYTHING posted in a mafia thread is meaningless or can't be read into.

I'm in agreement with a lot that's been said. The rules are guidelines, they aren't the be-all, end-all of RV. We spam and mess around in mafia to keep the game from getting too serious or too heated, as arguments crop up all the time. As friends, we're all just poking fun at eachother and having a good time.

The fact that you're the only person who seems to have a problem with this should send up a few flags. Note that I really don't mean to sound like an ass here, but this topic would mean more coming from someone who actually plays mafia. :?:

I read the mafia games quite a lot actually, I find them interesting, no need to get mad because I used you as an example of the spamming. Saying that the spam is part of the mafia game is just an excuse for spamming. The spam rule has changed which i am perfectly happy with, so all your one word vote posts are fine which you should now be happy with, however off-topic posts are still considered spam, as I'm sure are double/triple posting etc but I'll have to check on that.

I'm not mad, just wanted to point out that anything can be read. The spam rule has changed, and it does seem all is well, so meh.

Not being allowed to edit is what keeps people from realizing a mistake in what they said, since those who lie about their roles and abilities in-game have to maintain cover. You can't take back what you say once you say it in real life, that rule makes it the same in-game.

Out of curiosity, if you read them a lot, what's your opinion on what goes on Day One? Rarely anyone except Tahu and possibly Paidea will make a full attempt to be serious, so I'd wind up seeing Day One as more of a threat than one-word vote posts and up-to-quadruple posting. :ura:

Also, to this in specific.

We'd never been reprimanded for this before because it's the nature of the game to allow people to bandwagon vote. Considering Mafia's start on RV was in the Legend's forum, played largely by administrators and moderators, it's always had a special exemption from rules within reason. So the spam rule change doesn't really affect Mafia games. Thus, I don't see why we should be happy for Mafia's sake about the rule change. O.o

EDIT (Woot, broke a Mafia rule): My "if you read them a lot" isn't questioning if you've read them at all. Considering I'm probably one of the few who probably always looks at the "Users browsing this forum" line, I've seen your name on the list more than once. So I'd be lying and ignorant to try and suggest that you might have not read the topics.

"These rules apply to all people who use RuneVillage (villagers). Absolutely no one (including staff members, users who have donated money, items, or other help to RuneVillage) is immune to these rules. The administration reserves the right to alter this list without prior warning or announcement."

No exceptions should have been made in the first place which is what my original point was, spam in the legends forum all you want, thats all its there for, but on the main forums they are supposed to act responsible and as role models to others, so yes the spam rule change does affect mafia because it means that the one word posts are allowed now, they are not just users being allowed to break the rules, however, offtopic posts are not. it Is a good compromise that I'm happy with and the mafia players should be happy with, their games can continue with one word posts and the more relaxed spam rule should hopefully be upheld.

Why this is still being argued over I do not know as the issue has now been resolved in my eyes, though obviously some users hold pointless grudges judging by the edited posts, to prevent further conflict I'm going to ask for this to be locked.
