That's the bankai for both. We seem to have skipped a step.

I don't think I'd have any issue with Shinji's ability tbh. But that's mainly because I've had it happen in so many games lol.

Also I like the last page. It's like they just ran out of pages and skipped to the end of the chapter.

Wrong.

Shinji's shikai emits an invisible gas upon release (which is spread by him swinging the sword in a circular motion) that, when smelled by his opponent, causes the senses to invert.

Aizen's shikai allows complete control of the five senses of anyone who's witnessed his sword's release.

Both still have unrevealed bankais.

I'm not getting exactly how the senses invert. The way he explained it, it almost sounded like they invert twice...making them back to normal.

1.) Copy and paste an image into Paint.
2.) Go to Image -> Flip/Rotate.
3.) Flip horizontal.
4.) Flip vertical.

You're now in the inverted world.

And it's mirrored as well; The closer someone looks to your front, the closer they actually are to your back. Same for left/right. Shinji charging straight towards Aizen was really Shinji charging Aizen from behind. When Shinji landed that blow on Aizen, it was because Aizen tried to block his sword over the left shoulder - But because left is really right, Aizen guarded the wrong side and Shinji landed the hit. (Shinji aims left [left], Aizen guards left [right] = Aizen fails to block and gets hit.)

Maybe it's crated by both smell and sound?
So if the enemy doesn't react to one, the other one will, i.e deaf.
Because there is holes in his shikai and when he spun it, the SFX had some noise going on, it would explain the holes

Just imagine it as if you're playing a fighting game with controls screwed up. You press up and your character crouches. You press down and your character jumps. You press left, your character goes to the right, and you press right, your character goes to the left.

Basically a mindscrew that can easily kill most people, because your instinct will make you react in the opposite direction.

Shinji himself also gets affected by his own Shikai, doesn't he?

No Shinji sees things completely normally.

And that analogy doesn't really work. Aizen saw himself perfectly normal. It was just his outside-coordination that was skewed. By being reversed twice shinji just meant that up and down were switched as well as left and right. Basically it's like Aizen himself becomes an odd sort of mirror. The illusion revolves around Aizen in the middle. The main reason that the illusion didn't work was because Aizen took account for the Z-axis and not just X and Y, and knowing that he was the afflicted one it means that the vortex is himself. He got hit because he didn't assume that x and y would be switched WITH Z. He assumed that Z was a sort of projector. Basically he assumed that the shinji behind him was a flashlight aimed at himself (a crystal) that then changed the white light into a rainbow. However, while the shinji behind him was the real one the illusion of X was still in effect.

So really I suppose that means that X is the only illusion on the actual shinji and that Y and Z are the only things switched on the illusion since if you reverse -x y and z you would get x -y and -z.

You die. Then you start bleeding profusely from a gaping chest wound. Then Shinji moves toward you and slashes you in reverse with his sword, erasing the cut. Then he moves away from you backwards. Continue until you reach the point at which he released his bankai, then you die. Again.
Yes, this is confusing as heck. I'm probably not getting this right either, but the whole point is that you basically are dead before you get hit, then you get hit, then you die. Again. No, there's no escaping.

Time isn't a spatial dimension though, which is the only thing he's been working with so far, plus he's only altered perception and the way you move, making a wound appear before it's actually there would only give away the place where he's going to strike you

It wouldn't give it away because the wound is already there. Time is a spatial dimension like the others except that most particles are limited to motion in only one direction. Anyway, this was just idle speculation.

No, time is not a spatial dimension, but it hardly matters

And I doubt there is a bankai powerful enough to actually mess with the flow of time

And even if there was, if it's simply reversed, then that means after Aizen is wounded by it, Shinji would still have to apply the wound, if he didn't then the wound would never exist, but because it already does, it does indeed give away where Shinji will hit Aizen

But whatever, I doubt that's his bankai anyway

Given how fast Aizen can move, Ichigo's already lost this fight. In fact, he was moving a bit too fast... Could he possibly have foreseen Ichigo's arrival and already have unleashed his shikai, thus trapping Ichigo in the illusion?

Actually, I was wondering if he has ad his shikai up the entire time (not that anyone would notice, given its effects) simply because he knows about the weakness of his illusions? He obviously thinks ahead.
