To start the quest, speak to Arianwyn in Lletya, located in the main building. He will inform you that Thorgel, the dwarf that uncovered the Death altar, has sent word from the Temple of Light. After the safegaurds in the temple of light were reactivated, something has happened to the final pillar. Arianwyn wishes to investigate.
Arianwyn will request three tasks; Gain two sets of Mourner's gear for both him and yourself, secure a backup cover to distract from the intrusion of Arianwyn and use of Elven magic, and bind a blank Teleport crystal to the cave leading to the Temple of Light.
First off, head to the mountain pass at entrance to Lletya. There, you will find the Level 11 Mourners that drop Mourner gear. Keep in mind that, although they're only Level 11, these Mourners will drain all your combat stats (Including Hitpoints and Prayer) to 20 when they first hit you. It's recommended that you take good combat gear as well as food and a Restore Potion. It's worth noting that if you kill the Mourners in a single hit, they won't have a chance to drain your stats.
Kill two Mourners and collect two full sets of Mourner gear. Next, teleport to Ardougne and put on a full set of Mourner. (Don't equip and extra jewelery or they won't let you into the base.) Head to the Mourner's HQ in the North-eastern part of West Ardounge. One you've entered the building, go to the North-western corner and enter the trap door.
Once downstairs, head south into the Head Mourner's office and search his desk. There will be options to take both a New Key and a Tarnished Key; Take them both. Head one room over and use the Tarnished Key on the cell door to enter the room. Speak to the gnome about becoming a distraction, and he will question if you're really a Mourner. Tell him who you really are, and he will agree to help on the condition that you get the Head Mourner to grant his freedom.
Speaking to the Head Mourner about his release is optional, and won't result in anything more than him considering the gnome's release. It doesn't matter if you talk to the Head Mourner or not; The gnome will remain imprisoned either way.
Now head through the door to the tunnel using your New Key, and make your way towards the Temple of Light. Pass the Dark Beasts but stop just before you see the corpses laying outside the Temple of Light entrance. You should be able to bind the Blank Teleport Crystal at this spot.
Remove your gas mask (As you can't sing properly with it on), and sing to the crystal. A short cutscene will appear with the Mourners in the HQ hearing the resonance of your singing, and banging their heads against the wall. Your Blank Crystal will now become an Enchanted Teleport Crystal. With all three tasks complete, head back to Arianwyn in Lletya. Bring him the second set of Mourner Gear and the Enchanted Teleport Crystal, and he will compliment you on your first attempt at crystal singing.
Will all the preparations complete, Arianwyn will ask if you're ready to go to the Temple of Light. Before you say yes, make sure you have food and protection against the Shadows. If you still have the Crystal Trinket in your bank from Mourning's End II, you'll need to bring that as well. (If not, you'll obtain a new one later.) When you're ready, speak to Arianwyn to teleport.
When you arrive in the tunnel, head into the Temple of Light. You won't have to worry about the shadows too much for now, as Arianwyn will be 1-hitting any he sees with his Crystal Bow. Go up the first staircase you see when you enter the temple, and then head South to the first ladder you see to the top floor. Head North and go down the double stairs, then go down stairs using the west staircase. There should be a red beam of light hitting the doors here, which will allow you to pass through.
Note: If the red beam is not pointed towards the light door, you left the mirror rotated to the West when you last visited this area. If this has happened, you will have to go through the Abyss or the Underground Pass to get to reach the Death Altar. After you go through the light door, rotate the mirror inside the pillar so that it points West.
The red beam should now be directed towards the Energized Pillar, allowing you to pass through the final light door and speak to Thorgel. Thorgel will tell you to speak with Arianwyn, who will ask you to investigate the Energized Pillar while he speaks with Thorgel. Pass through the light door, and investigate the pillar. A jolt of energy will pass through you.
Report back to Arianwyn, and you will tell him that the energy felt familiar. He will suggest that you try using the Crystal Trinket on the pillar. Do so, and you'll get a reaction similar to a flash of light.
Report to Arianwyn once again with your findings. Your character will suggest that the Crystal Trinket is too small to handle the energies of the pillar. This will give Arianwyn the idea to use a larger medium instead - You! He will tell you to use the same process you used to create the Crystal Trinket on yourself, requesting that you go into the Death Altar. If you don't have a Death Talisman on hand, speak to Arianwyn and he will give you one. Use the talisman on the Mysterious Ruins and speak to Thorgel who will be waiting for you by the Death Altar. He will help you up onto the Altar, and the energies of the altar will enter your body.
This next step must be completed quickly, as the enchantment from the Death Altar will wear off shortly. Also beware of the Shadows during this step, as Arianwyn won't be following you.
Leave the Death Altar and go through the light door, then quickly switch the mirror inside the pillar to direct the red beam of light towards the first light door. Pass through, and climb up the stairs. From there, go up the Northern staircase. Go east, and then turn south. You'll come up on a White Crystal outcrop - Investigate it, and you'll be further enchanted with energy.
Still working against a time limit, you'll need to retrace your steps back to the Energized Pillar. Head back down both flights of stairs, redirect the red beam of light West once more, and investigate the Energized Pillar. You will be teleported, and a cutscene will appear giving you a run-down of the new room you'll have entered.
Head to the center of the room, and search the Dead Slave's corpse. You'll receive a set of Notes, a Knife, a Bronze Hatchet and a Colour Wheel. The notes will inform you that the Crystal Cores found around the room can be rotated, but the trees only allow the light to pass through them.
On the Crystal Tree found West of the blue light, there's a left click option to "chop" it. This will reveal the core. Click it again to "fix" the crystal tree. Walk to the third Crystal Core to the West of the Blue Light Emitter, where the blue light is stopped. Rotate the core until the blue light points North. Go North two trees (where the blue light is stopped), and rotate the crystal core to point the blue light West. Go North one tree and rotate the core until it points North, shining the light beam the Light Receiver. A short cut scene will take place showing the red Light Emitter becoming active.
Go to the core found West of the red light (where the beam stops), and rotate it until the light points West. Next, go to the core where the red light stops and rotate it until the light beam points South. Go to the next core and rotate it until the red light shines West into the green Light Receiver. Go to the North-western corner and rotate the core two-in from the walls to direct the blue beam South. Adjust the core to direct a now-pink beam into the green Light Receiver. If done correctly, a cutscene should appear showing the green Light Emitter being activated.
While still in the South-western corner, adjust the furthest corner core to point the pink beam of light West into the red Light Receiver. Head over to the green Light Emitter and adjust the core west of the green emitter to point West, causing it to follow the rest of the beams into the red receiver. Now simply move one core South and switch the core so the red beam of light doesn't point anywhere. This should cause a cyan colored beam to point into the red receiver, causing a cutscene.
Go to the Green Emitter and make the green beam point straight West into the Black Emitter. Go to the core where the red beam stops, and rotate it West. Move West to the next core and rotate it North. This should cause a yellow beam to be pointing into the black receiver. Now go to the Blue Light Emitter. head West to the second core, and rotate it so the blue beam points North. This should cause a white beam to be direct towards the black Light Receiver, causing a cutscene to appear where a ladder drops down into the South-eastern corner of the room.
Climb up the ladder and you'll find yourself in a room full of platforms. This room is actually a maze where you'll have to move around the platforms by jumping the gaps. The maze path is marked out on the minimap, so simply follow the maze path by jumping from platform to platform. Take caution of the spikes that appear on some of the platforms though. They move around, so if you time your jump right, you won't take any damage. Landing on the spikes will cause you 10 damage, and the damage will be continuous if you remain standing on the spikes. Once you reach the end of the maze, you'll find a large Crystal Ballista pointed at a moving target on the wall. You'll have to shoot this target three times with the Ballista.
Once you destroy the target, the large door in the previous room will open. Go back through the maze and climb down the ladder to reach the previous room. Enter the large door on the Western wall, and you'll find yourself in a tunnel containing a large pile of rubble and a dead Elf Messenger.
Search the Elf Messenger's corpse to find a report. The report explains that you are in the "Corridor of Light" which served as an ancient passage to underneath the city of Prifddinas. It goes on to tell that the city of Prifddinas has been reverted to Crystal Seed form. Go back to the previous room and use the portal on the Southern wall to return to the Energized Pillar. Go back to the Death Altar and speak the Thorgel. You'll tell him your discovery, and he will inform you that Arianwyn has returned to Lletya. Return to Lletya to speak with Arianwyn.
Note: Before leaving, remember to rotate the mirror East to point the red beam towards the first light door. Leaving it pointing West will require you go go through the Death Altar or Underground Pass to return to Thorgel in the future.
Arianwyn will tell you that he'll be sending a message to Thorgel to energize some of his men the way you were energized so that they may enter the Corridor of Light and clear the rubble.
Congratulations, Quest Complete!
