"Ultra Beatdown"? I guess that's a step-up from "Epic Beatdown" that I heard going around, but it's still a ridiculous title for an album. I wouldn't be able to take the songs seriously enough to enjoy them.

It's kind of like happy grindcore; people don't listen to it because it's good music. They listen to it because it makes them laugh.

I always hear that Dragonforce gets their ideas from video games, and the album cover looks like it confirms that, but ... do they ever actually admit it?

Give it something Black. It doesn't look as as ludicrous as the bears album cover some rapper had, which Hostile posted in here a couple of months back.

Are you joking? There's absolutely nothing cheesy about a black guy smoking cigars and dining with bears. That album is absolutely awesome.

Dragonforce's, on the other hand, is some generic woman with a gun that has octopus tentacles coming out of it or something.

No, they're not that bad of a band at all. I never said that I didn't like their music. TTFAF is my #3 most-played song according to iTunes. I just think that the cover of this album looks stupid. That's all I've been saying XD Sorry if you misunderstood me.

You are right, there are other reasons to dislike them.

I would advise people to look in the following areas:

Lyrical content
Guitars
Video game sounds

That should cover it. Lame content (And I listen to power metal), the guitars sound cheesy (As in the sound they make), and video game sounds are just not metal.

Guys, Black might like their music but their music is horrible. What magicana said ... the video game sounds are hilarious. The guitars are sped up (using a computer program) on the studio albums, hence why they can't play for Fuzzy Bunny

Dragonforce really is its own particular brand of music. It's really not meant to be taken seriously. The lyrics are rife with cliché, the vocals are ridiculous, the guitar is impractical and the album artwork is bizarre. But it's meant to be "fun". The band members have crazy hair and dance around like fools while singing about... well... the themes you pointed out in that little image there.

It's music. It's entertainment. It's not a place to look for meaning and purpose. If you try to over-analyze it you're missing the point. Some people don't like it, fine. Everyone has a very personalized taste in music. Some people do, though.

And that's all I have to say on the subject.

Fair enough. I prefer a bit more talent in my music though. For my not-meant-to-be-taken-seriously music, I have Flight of the Conchords.
