Also, to clear up any confusion about my rank (or now lack of one), i handed in my staff rank.

There was really no point of me having the staff rank in the first place. I worked my ass off for the vilage for 3 months and then lost all interest in doing anything at all really. i know a lot of people who deserve staff more than i did, and a lot of people who would appreciate the rank more than me, and so i decided that i would take the oppertunity of being given a "new" rank to hand my staff rank in. It was a conscieous decision i made a long time ago, and i tried to get it impemented, but the whole atitude that the post was made (in my classic leaving-post attitude) made the admin team think "does he really mean what he said?". I did. They told me that a fix was on it's way to sort out this problem, and that fix was "Staff Elder". It totally defeated the object that i was aiming for. I didn't want a rank anymore, i didn't want any responsibility anymore, and i get lumped with a rank that doesn't change the responsibility i held, really.

So i handed the rank in. Back to good ol'e Sorceror of Saradomin for me

Although it will be pretty insignificant to the people you have hurt, I believe this was a move in the right direction by you. Then again my opinion isn't really valid because I have no ties to this situation

I still struggle to see how they gave it to you in the first place, though. (This comment is directed more at the administration than you)

And those are the guides i have record of. I've done a bucket for the villager (ask Richboi) and also have done a bit for the databases too. In fact, the databases are the only thing i'm still a member of

So i'll happily say i know why i got it, but i don't really think i deserved the rank really, seeing as all editing, coding and database stuff kinda halted in january and i never got back into the swing of things. Shame really, that was the golden age of my life so far really, late 2007...

I think you missed the point. Entirely, actually.

Elder is a position that is granted for yes, retiring, but also for being a respected member of Runevillage, whether it be Staff Elder or Moderator Elder. I do not understand why you were elevated to such a position after what transpired following all your 'good deeds'. Why has the honour not been bestowed on others in a similar situation?

I misread your post, i thought you were moaning about why i got Village Staff, i apologise.

But i agree withyou on the point of Staff Elder though. I was suprised to get it myself. One villager who deserves the Staff Elder rank the most is Tship, and i don't se him with a Staff Elder rank.
