*quick replies*

Great Job! Thank you Glod <3

If you want suggestions for improvements, here they are:
- make the text box smaller (maybe 3/4). After all it should be a quick and short reply right?
- put the smilies in a box shape and closer to the textbox, just looks better
- put the checkboxes on the right under the smilies

Bedankt!

Going off Jack's idea, this would be my preferred concept:

Image

Features:
    - All the most popular/useful BBCode features included;
    - 'Smiley Button' will bring up this to conserve space.
    - 'More Options' button will bring you to the normal 'Post Reply'.
    - More compact while still allowing ample space to create your post.

Our old one was very small (smaller than this concept if memory serves) so I think this would more than suffice. It has basically everything needed, even though I think that if you need that, you'd be better off using the normal 'Post Reply', but it with this not a lot of space is taken up for the space.

It would be very hard to get the buttons like that I'm afraid...
Jackstick's idea is perfectly possible though.

Option two is just one button more than what we used to have. We used to have just a textarea and a button to Quick Reply.

The preview button actually already brings you to the big Post Reply page, so I don't think a "More Options" button will be needed.
We'll see what the poll brings. People can change their vote if they want to by the way. If I see a lot of people wanting it to be displayed such as you two made it, I'll reset the poll and add more specific options with screenshots and stuff. But first I'm going to see what the outcome is of this poll.

A bit off topic, but before I forget: I remember when I used my mother's iMac, I could use BBcode by pressing command+(letter) and it created the tags around the selected writing like for example command+B was for putting the bold tags ([b][/b ])

Is it possible, because you set it up or is it the mac? :s

Well, nothing has changed there... Those buttons still have accesskeys set just like before.
All you have to figure out is which key combination you have to do in your operating system and browser.

In Firefox on Windows XP for example, the combination is Alt + Shift + Letter. While in IE, it would be just Alt + Letter if I recall well.

I'll do a quick search on the internet for you...

EDIT: Hmm, it's a bit outdated I think, but may perhaps help you:
Operating System      Browser            Access Key Combination
PC Windows         Internet Explorer 4 and above      ALT + Access Key (to focus the link) + ENTER to activate

PC Windows         Netscape 6 and above         ALT + Access Key
PC Windows         Opera 7                  SHIFT + ESC, followed by Access Key

MAC OS X           Internet Explorer 5 and 5.1         CONTROL + Access Key *

Thanks! It works with SHIFT+ALT+Accesskey on FF 3.0 (but the [img] tag doesn't work and when I use P it opens Windoes Media Player :S). These shortcut keys don't work in quick reply either (on FF 3.0).

No buttons = no accesskeys.
Not a bug, just a feature not present.

Hooray!

I like it the way it is, with the expand button.

I'm the only one wanting modifications at all, it seems.

I appreciate that it's there, and it being hidden is a good idea. But is it possible to align the smilies to the left and add a basic set of buttons, such as bold, italics, list, images, url, etc? It's just that the coordination between normal replies and quick replies was thrown around enough that I got thrown for a loop myself. ^_^;

I have found one small .. call it a bug .. with the quick reply. when a topic is locked (and I checked a locked topic in a forum where I don't have moderator priveleges), the quick reply option does not disappear. It might be wise to do that, to not give people the false assumption that they can still post.

They can't though, the moment that you click submit, you will get the message that the topic is locked and that you are not allowed to post on it.

It might be one of those little things, but I don't think that it will be much work to fix (right?)

I have no idea why, but I'm kind of annoyed by the fact that you can expand the quick reply and not contract.

Well, I didn't deem it needed... It's perfectly possible for me to implement (showing is just as easy as hiding), but I'll just await the results first.

I like the idea of the expand button, but can you make the text area smaller and maybe have a collapse button? I think that would be good. Also, how will you know which idea is which for that 'other' option?

I don't. But if I see many people wanting something else, I'll put up a different poll to see which idea they like.

About the locked topic: I'll see what I can do.

That's because that button doesn't need any action from the server.
The poll has ended, the votes have been tallied: I'll start working on a simple quick reply box without any smilies, bbcode buttons or any of that. Just a simple textarea with two buttons :)
