April Fool's!

yep... some of you guessed it, but this was the staff April Fool's prank for this year....

The *entire* staff was in on this from the git-go, and in fact, had been planned out for weeks in the Staff Lounge....

So all those fuzzy bunnies and nasty comments were all acting... at least i *hope* so!

I've already mentioned in the Staff Lounge that there won't be enough Oscars to go around this year at the Academy Awards-- and besides they only give *one* for best actor/actress, and we have a handfull of them!

Although many of you took this very seriously, and gave some very thoughtful replies to the staff comments, i hope that in the bottom line you'll find the humor in our prank-- it's always difficult to do *something* that *everyone* finds humorous...

The only thing i found a little troubling was that so many of you immediately accepted it that i would do such a thing to the guys and gals who put so much of their lives into RuneVillage in the hope of making it a better place. I'm not sure if that means that many of you trust my judgement so completely, or that it sounds like something i'd actually do!:D

EDIT: btw, we didn't actually remove the 'powers' from anyone- we wouldn't leave you and the Village unprotected like that-- we simply changed their ranks/colors-- everyone still retained all their permissions.....

Thanks to the entire staff for pitching in on this-- and doing it so well! ... and a big 'thanks' to mogomongoose, who did a bit of the background action- such as the two posts from 'me' that kicked this whole thing off (admins can change the poster of a topic!).

May I personally say that we were all in on this from the start. It was planned well in advance. I really enjoyed playing the role of the angry ex staff, however It didnt bother me too much not having my rank for the day. Thanks to all of you in chat who got into lengthy conversations with me about how I was beind childish, it was funny really. Spoon mate, no hard feelings I was just mucking around, and it was good to see you acting in such a mature manner. I will wrap my post up here, but may i say, we got you good!!

Wow... just wow. Personally, I thought and hoped that more of you would be conscious of the date and its cultural significance. At the least, I'd have hoped one would rationalize that demodding everyone including Staff/Legends (which have no mod power) is silly to the point of impossibility.

Ah well. I know I had a good laugh at this. Hopefully for those of you who are just now realizing what this was, you will too.

We all acted stupidly, but I hope you realised, we were doing just that - acting.

Although most of what we said was completely irrational, we did have to do it to keep with the spirit of the event. Hopefully, you'll be able to forget all the things said over the past few days; giving us a chance to redeem ourselves!

Indeed. Who would want a non-eventful April Fools' Day? (...Don't answer that.)

What interested me most was that for the first several pages of the global, most everyone thought it was Hiker's April Fools' joke on the moderators. Repeating again what Richboi said, everyone with any sort of special rank was in on this for the past couple of weeks.

Kind of funny about the reversal, really. Last year it was all about everyone without a rank getting one, this year it was about everyone with a rank, losing it.

Sorry for those I lied to, but I felt the joke was clear enough to be seen as a joke . We at the RuneVillage administration (and all other staff as well actually) would never lose trust in our values We would never make such a bold move all at once.

About RV2.0: I have been working on it lately, but I must admit that it's far from finished All I need to do is write the pages on which you can add/edit/delete stuff on the site. With the move to phpBB3 a big part of the login system had to be rewritten as well, which I'm sure you can understand takes a while.

Well, that's about it. I hope you enjoyed our little nightmare scenario we played here, but don't worry: that'll never happen for real

It's been a fun run this year around. I must admit, I could hardly stop me from peeing myself by laughing too much at times. Especially when someone pmed me if I would stay or leave (you know who you are <3).

And remember, next year is going to be even better, although as of now, we have clue on what we're going to do.
Remember, all havoc was just plain acting (and boy, did some of the mods *peeks at goten* play their role good!). The bunnies that you saw in the angry posts were actual bunnies, not censored swear words. Or ... at least, most of them were.

So yea, no hard feelings towards anyone from me, and I hope that is something that we will all share.

Well in all honesty I didn't believe it would work to anywhere near the success it had on the day

I guess on behalf of the legends and the rest of the staff I can say that it was all in good humour and spirit, please don't take this as anything serious. As has already been mentioned every special ranked user was in on this, so the ridiculous reactions were on purpose.

I thought it was quite fun and definitely deserves to be moved to the village archives
