Cockroach Kill Guide
Introduction
Cockroaches were brought into RuneScape with the release of the Stronghold of Player Safety, a dungeon designed to keep players safe from the malicious players. It can be found between Barbarian Village and Edgeville. It is considered to be an excellent place for both F2P and P2P players to train, based on the drops, as well as the experience.

The whole dungeon is multi-combat.

Getting There

Image
The quickest way to access the Cockroaches is from Edgeville Bank. Especially if you're a member and have an Amulet of Glory teleport to Edgeville. F2P Players may find it easier to teleport to Varrock, bank, and then return.

Once you're in the area, enter through the jail back entrance, and open the poster.

The Stronghold and the Cockroaches

There are three sorts of Cockroaches: Drones, Workers and Soldiers. The Cockroach Soldier is the most dangerous of the three, and the Cockroach that the majority of people will train against. The most notable drops are Rune Sq. Shields, Rune Scimitars, and all charms. For a complete list of drops, see the Cockroach Soldier's Database Entry.

Image

To access the Cockroaches, you must first complete the Misthalian Training Center of Excellence Test. Once completed, you'll enter through the jail door once more, and through the poster to begin your Cockroach slaying journey.

Image

Most players choose to only use melee, and only attack the Cockroach Soldiers. This is the most popular for a reason, as the Cockroach Soldiers have the better drops. But you can also use Magic or Ranged to attack, and better yet, there's safespots for Magic and Ranged against the Cockroach Workers.

Image

Safespots are only on the bottom level. There are safespots where ever the entrance to a block is only one square, as the Cockroach Workers are two squares wide. There are many safespots in different blocks on the bottom level, so mix it up when you're bored.

FAQ

Q: Do they only attack with melee?
A: For the most part, yes. Cockroach Soldiers have the ability to use ranged, but they will only use ranged if you flee. Even then, it won't hit very hard against melee armor.

Q: What floor do you recommend killing Cockroach Soldiers on?
A: Every floor has Cockroach Soldiers, but the floor containing the chest has the most Cockroach Soliders, and there's the least amount of people there.

Q: Where else can I kill Cockroaches?
A: Nowhere. The Stronghold of Player Safety is the only area in RuneScape where you can kill Cockroaches.

Q: Would you call these the best NPC to train on in F2P?
A: It's definitely one of the best.

Q: I'm P2P, what can I do different?
A: Besides bringing stronger armor and weapons, if you have an Amulet of Glory, you can teleport to Edgeville, which is the closest bank to the Stronghold of Player Safety. If you're F2P, I'd recommend teleporting to Varrock to bank (one law rune, one fire rune, and three air runes required).

Q: What use are Cockroach Drones?
A: For very low levels, they're excellent for training. For higher levels, they're of no use.

Q: So, this dungeon is all multi-combat, does that mean other people can attack my Cockroach Soldiers when I'm killing them?
A: Yes, but usually the areas aren't that crowded, so they have no need to. If they do, simply move to one of the many other places.

Q: Do I have to finish the Misthalin Training Center of Excellence Test to kill Cockroaches?
A: Yes, you absolutely have to. You will not be able to access the dungeon if you haven't completed the test.

Looks good, but I would name it differently, because now hunting has a different meaning in RS ^_^;
Maybe Cockroach Killing Guide?
(Cockroach Slaughter Guide?)

Supposedly soldiers drop clue scrolls :-s . This is slightly unrelated to your guide, but I know you can still fix it.

You also left out a very important fact...I'm not sure if the entire dungeon is multi-combat. If it is, you should say so somewhere in the guide. If only parts are multi-combat, you should label on the map (with slightly darker shading) which parts.

Looks good  .

His logic is flawless. Topsummoner

I concur. We must lynch him now for the sake of the metagame, we MUST teach people that they can't go around claiming "anniversary" and expect leniency. Topsummoner.

Do you know what level clue scroll they drop? If so it would be quite easy to edit it into the entry.

Edited in the second part. :)

Level 3.

Thanks.

I cannot confirm nor deny if the workers drop level 2s or the drones drop level 1s (which could make sense).

Alright. If you do find out, just say the word. ~Donut

Just a heads up, the clues got nerfed. The clues are now Level 2 clues. :|
