I'm going to be having interviews on January 26 and I really need some quick tips on what to do. If my interview doesn't turn out great, I could find myself going to a high school full of jocks, alcoholics and such. Please help!

Dress nicely, don't use slang if you can avoid it, be as polite as possible, turn your phone off beforehand, maintain good eye contact throughout the interview and try not to seem too nervous.

Depends on the interview conditions and who is doing it.

In a very formal interview, just remain calm and confident. Most such interviews are more to see if you can cope under pressure than anything. Be honest and clear, and don't get flustered. If you are nervous, admit it! Give them a reason ("I am really excited about coming here" or something like that) and the odds are they won't hold it against you.

In a less formal setting, be yourself and try to engage the interviewer. Ask questions (have a few ready if possible) and show an interest. If you get someone who works in a field you are interested in, that is always good. Turn it into a conversation if possible. The closest thing I had to a formal interview for a university turned into a chat about American politics, and that was in a dedicated physics department, in England (top 10 university at the time), with a Russian.

Whatever the situation, doing some research is always a good plan. Get a grip on the research or work of the departments you are interested in. Most professors are primarily there for their own research interests, not to teach you, and the best way to get noticed in a positive way is to move into those areas of interest.

Phauxy, don't let it discourage you. You're (forgive me if I'm wrong) in or around the age of 15-16 correct? You've got plenty of more chances to fall in love and plenty more things to enjoy in life. Before improvement everything has to get worse. Let things take their course and watch what happens. That's the fun part of life. Not knowing what will happen next, the thrill of each new oppurtunity. Enjoy it.

No, but seriously. Just you could bring it up such like "I like this one person at school.." and they could answer with who or what girl, etc. Then you could say "Well it's actually not a girl...". And so forth.

I have a circle of friends that are really close (about 5-8 of us)

Now, I want to expand my friendship zone, I've made a couple of small friends from classes at school, a girl I sat beside last semester (sitting with her again in another class this semester) is one of the friends I've made, but its not serious enough. I'm looking for someone to talk to everyday.

I don't exactly know what to say to a person to get them interested in me. I'm easy to get along with, I am nice to the majority of the people I meet.

If anyone can give me advice... I would appreciate it...

Well asking those people for their MSN/AIM/ICQ or whatever would help, but only if you yourself has some kind of IM device. Also, invite them to the movies with a group of people or to just hang out. The more you hang out with these people, chances are they'll beging to like you more.

I got a problem.

I work at this grocery store/wholesale place called Lococo's. S'been around since 1906.

Anyways, I work the midnight shift and this guy usually brings his dog in while he's typing up orders for us to put together. The thing smelled my dog (st. bernard pup, I'll post pics later) and now it hates me, barks at me every time it sees me.

Well it's owner, guy I work with who's like between 22 and 24 years old, and who happens to be like the son of the owner of the company, his last name is Lococo, thought I was teasing it. He said the following to me, while another guy I work with and is good friends with stood there and watched:

Guy: *points to other guy standing there* There's no witnesses, I know he's not gonna tell anyone. If you tease my ****ing dog one more time, I'll let him use you as a chew toy, then I'll kick the ****ing **** out of you so bad you'll wish he was using you as a chew toy again. Your of a mother will wish she'd never given birth to you.

I just stood there, ignoring him, doing my work.

Now the thing is, I have multiple ways to deal with this.

A) Tell him what I've planned to say which goes as follows: "If you ****ing threaten me again, I'll have you arrested. You sic your dog on me, I'll have the ****er put down. I don't care if you're the owner's son, I'm here to work hard and earn my money, not take **** from the likes of you."

B) Give the Hell's Angels of the Niagara Region a call, seeing as I literally know half the Hell's Angels in Ontario

C) Beat him up myself. I'm 20, I could do it.

D) Call the police on him. My next door neighbour and friend has 10 cops in his family, and his aunt is Chief of Police for the Niagara Region.

What should I do? I don't want to risk my job, but I want to get this guy back good.
