Just a note about the Legends--

First, to all of you new Legends, congratulations on your selection. And while you have been selected as a result of your activity and efforts in the past, it's with the expectation that you'll continue on in the future to truly be a Legend of RuneVillage.

For those hoping to be selected, or those hoping to see others selected:
Selection as a "Legend" is a bit unique in our collection of ranks at RuneVillage. It's the only one that's truly selected by voting. Each mod and admin has an equal vote in the process.

In this round, we had over 30 Villagers nominated, and it required about 35 votes to be selected. There were about 48 mods and admins in the selection process. The actual ratio is that a nominee must receive *at least* 2/3 of the votes cast to be selected. However, there is no set number of positions-- *everyone* who gets 2/3 of the votes is selected.

Also the criteria is a bit strange. The ones with the best chance are the ones who are active *all over the Village*, not in just one area. So for instance, we could have a person who was very active, but mostly wrote guides who would not be selected because he was only active in one area. However, a strength in one area can help fill in a weak area. So it's not just length of time at the Village, number of posts, activity or even helpfullness that counts-- it's *everything*!

And that was the case this time for several people-- they were very active, but mostly in a narrow area of the Village. And there were many who missed by only one or two votes.

So in wondering why an individual was not selected, look at the overall picture. Are they just active in one or two areas of the Village? Do you see them also hanging out in the questions forum, helping newbies along? Do you see them sharing ideas and opinions in general chat? Do you see them welcoming new members in the Lumbridge Lounge?

So keep these factors in mind when you wonder why someone was not selected, and if you're going for "Legends" youself, remember, even if you want to "specialize" in an area, you need to be a bit active *everywhere."

If you were one hoping to be selected in this group, don't let this bog you down- let it resolve you to be a more active, stronger Villager in the future.

For those who dont think my equation works, I think it comes down to activity. Part of the requirements for legend is activity across multiple areas of the board. There were a few people who were possibly voted down because of this fact. Unfortunately, some of the most active on this site dont quite have the other aspects to make it, helpfulness, friendliness, showing people respect. For example, if you post on a topic like this denouncing those who were picked, and complaining that you werent, you pretty much prove the fact you didnt deserve it. Of course there is disappointment, but keep it to yourself, dont rain on other people's parades.

So to sum it up, if you are very active and didnt get it, watch your attitude. Cynicism, being judgmental, rudeness, those just arent legendary qualities. If youve got a good attitude and are helpful, but werent picked, keep up the good work. Maybe try to post a bit more (not spam!), try out some forums you dont normally check, or maybe get more involved in the community.
