AMV's

Do you like them?

Personally, I think, some of them are really good, while others just ruin the whole idea of it. Some have the right clips to the right parts of the music with like.. the "feelings" in tone with the music too if that makes sense.

I used to be a huge fan of Dragonball Z and sued to make AMV's of the DBZ movies. I used to think they weren't that good, but then after comparing them to some others... gosh

Lastly... does anyone know what it means? AMV? Anime Music Video?

I've seen a few, there's some great ones ... and bad ones out there.
Seems the best ones say "I DID NOT MAKE THIS" in the description hehe

The problem with some is it's best only to watch em from a series you've
seen in entirety since I've seen some that manage to take all the
shocking or spoiler moments from an entire series and then compress
them into 5-6 minutes... so they can kinda ruin a series for you if
you're not careful. If you're a fan of the series already and you just
like seeing these, then they can be lots of fun though.

for example from last exile... though this one isn't really much of
a spoiler, it's still a billion times more funny if you've seen the show.

I really dislike many of them, but there are a few ones that are good.

Most of the time I view AMVs just to listen to the music while working on something else and not actually looking at the AMV. 8-[

Some are remarkably nice though, although from what I've seen, most are just screenshots or video clips slapped together with just the song running in the background. No coordination between the video and the music whatsoever.

I used to like AMV's quite a lot a while back however I got bored of them. Uh yeah that was in my DBZ phase geez.

Uh... AMV's are alright. Every once in a while, you'll find a diamond in the rough in which you find an excellent AMV. However, most that I watch are generic clips strapped together set off to a bad/unfitting song making for a terrible output.

And there are FAR TOO MANY NARUTO/LINKIN PARK AMVS.

Theres far to many anything and Linkin Park AMV's. It's becuase Linkin Park does the best music for AMV's... but only the old songs, the newer songs that you see on AMV's havnt got the same tempo thingy.

I experimented with a Disturbed song once, worked pretty well

I am somewhat An AMV maker, I have so-far made 3 (my profile is in my sig bit), the next few hundred will be ready in about 2 weeks (when my sis helps with some footage problems).

My sister is an expert at this sorta thing, she's made a lot of Hellsing and FF7 Advent children vids aswell as made it to No 1 on the Anime Channel on Youtube. Mitternacht is her best one, here it is:

Mitternacht itself has had 18,000 views, 42 comments, 164 ratings (at 4-5) and favourited 202 times. The only problem was she put it on putfile, then people were able to download it and brand it with their own names.

She'll be making a new one when she gets back I think, and until then enjoy :wink:

^To be honest I didn't like that one. All it was was the fight scene at the end added to a tune. No effects, no plot, sloppily cut up and a bit innacurate (for example like that bit when sephiroth and cload are doing the clash from two floors, and then cload is standing alone on top of the building).
