I believe that is Lander's point. It's a simple plan: Find out who is both willing to work with the town and who is being honest about what they're saying. It doesn't hurt to figure out what items are out there. This is a brand new spin on mafia so we're dealing with some unknown factors. The less unknown in front of us, generally speaking, the better. I also have some coal in my Christmas stocking if anyone would like to trade.

Pending any funny business from this Top/Lander trade I'd be willing to gift Top an extra present from jolly ole' Saint Nick.

Funny that it's a trap for me to trust myself more than anyone else, while I know I'm on Santa's side and can't be sure of anyone else. It remains obvious that a villager would want as few of these gifts in mafia hands as possible. Joke vote or not, trying to limit who is to be given gifts without any real basis beyond a hunch is poor form. (See, I can do it, too.)

On a serious note, I'd be far more suspicious of the people who simply don't vote to give a gift than I would of people who choose unnatural recipients. It would also be very odd for day actions and item-or-role based actions that are noted to "count as visits" to not have roles, items, and measures in place to balance out item use. So yes, it's still bad if Mafia keep getting them, but right now on day one? Pick a name and cross your fingers.

That said, it probably doesn't help my case that I can't trade either of my current items.

And Frank, you could always swap your gift-vote to Top and just remove it later if it gets fishy instead of say it and not do it.

The inhabitants of the North Pole had barely made each other's acquaintances before the day came to an end. Although they were not able to reach a decision as to who was naughty, some trade was conducted. Everyone retreated to their homes, wary of the coming night. The Rogues would most likely not be as idle as Santa's Workshop was during the day!

The residents of the North Pole awoke slightly later than anticipated. The sky was darker, the mood was gloomier, and Santa's Workshop was still locked. The Elf Workers could not figure out why their shifts hadn't started yet. Suddenly, someone realized that the cottage on the hill was dark and melancholy. That was the boss' residence. Surely he was just feeling sick? A few Workers went up to the cottage to search the residence. The unspeakable had actually happened: The Rogues had killed jolly old Saint Nick in cold blood! As the Workers sorted through Santa's belongings, a wave of uncertainty crept over Santa's Workshop. Without their leader, could they possibly stand a chance against the ruthless Rogues?

Kikori, Santa Claus, aligned with Santa's Workshop, has died a bloody death. Items in possession: Sack, Sleigh.

Day 2 has begun. It will end approximately 72 hours from now, on December 6th at 10 P.M. CST. With 8 players remaining, 5 votes are required for a Lynch or a Gift.

Sooooo, it might not be the best idea to say what you have. Because someone stole an item I had during night phase.

It was me. I used my White Elephant on you, and the item I received in return makes me inclined to believe you're town.

Which was kind of the desired effect I was looking for in using it. I think you can agree Thr it's in our best interest that I don't reveal what it does.

Top, you not having anything to go on, and then having info only after Thr piped up is a bit odd to me. Not odd enough for a lynch vote, but odd enough for me to Thr instead.

I do indeed have the white elephant. I worded it "stolen", but really it said "forced exchanged". I honestly didn't expect anyone to admit to taking it, so I figured saving the white elephant for later to catch a lier might be useful.

So, to put the game more in perspective since I will likely die in the night: I see no reason a mafia member (spiro) would vote for anyone other than his fellow mafioso to receive a gift st this point in the game. Thr is your best bet for (one of) the other mafia member(s).

With that said, who was the gift double voter yesterday who voted for top? Had to either be frank or top, as it was not me.

You might have a point with the the gift vote Lander, but I don't see Paid giving the item I stole from Thr to a mafia member to start.

This all said, I'm getting an aggressive mafia vibe from Top and Lander. It would be unknown to anyone else if their trade was legit or not. Like Lander said, mafia would gift vote their comrade. A definite WIFoM situation, though with them being aggressively buddy buddy.
