I just logged in to this thing for the first time in... A few years, I believe.

What is this game, why is it loading constantly on a high-end gaming PC, and why has its marketing strategy become more obnoxious than a Korean grinder?

So you won't be returning to the game, I take it?

Those might not be actual questions, but i have good theories:
1. Change in staff
2. Capitalism
3. Copying videogame in-game micro transactions.

I got to 87 Fm and 94 rc. I keep going back and forth with deciding to get the max cape. I'm almost at 2300 skill total.

It's always loading because it runs on an ancient platform, which just will not display more of the map than what is in your immediate surroundings.
And it relies almost entirely on your CPU and ignores the graphics card.

As for the marketing strategy with squeezing money out of players with overpowered microtransactions, you can blame Insight Venture Partners - they own Jagex.

I just thought I'd take a look around for a while. Took me forever to figure out the UI. Seems it's gotten rather cluttered for a point and click game where fullscreen is considered an exclusive privilege.

I logged into my account and looked at my friends list. Almost all the names were jumbles of letters and numbers. I assume that their names were reset for not logging in in ages? lol

Same. Even all the alt accounts I had that I played on every so often were taken away from me. :(

Jagex sent out emails a few months before they removed names from inactive accounts so everyone would get a fair warning and be able to keep them.
The problem is that over 250 million accounts have been registered and being limited to 12 characters length, there's nothing sensible left to use and only a tiny fraction of the accounts are actually active.

Yeah, makes sense. Only 1 of the alt accounts was really important to me, I was sad to lose it.

Also I'm from the era where we didn't give Jagex e-mail addresses, haha. I had no way of knowing. :(

Protean equipment is great. I went from 87-88 smithing quickly with my 700 bars. Now i can smith all adamant. Kind of a small goal since back in RS Classic, but now smithing addy isn't profitible.

I'm buying a bunch of "rares" on OSRS that aren't actually rare and are dropping like candy just for :bunny: and giggles. Partyhats are under 20k right now and September this year blue partyhats sold for 500k so even if they go back up to say 100k some time in late September I get some money for lols.

I'm pretty much completely out of the game though otherwise. Normally I log in for the Halloween/Christmas events but can't even be bothered this year. :?

Finished the new quest, available to free players, too. It was quite entertaining.

Runescape classic is available again. It's odd since it's another thing Jagex stated will not happen, since the doors to RSC was closed forever.

I ended up doing the Christmas event on my two main characters just to kill some time. Wasn't bad for OSRS' first(?) unique holiday event.

I keep getting this idea in my head that I want to return and finish some stuff on my Ironman... but I really don't. Every time I log in I just stand around then log right back out.
