For one thing - I'm glad to see these forums are still around :)

Now to the title:

Jagex now accepts bitcoin payments for membership, bonds, runecoins, keys, etc.

Just thought I would share :)

I don't think I recognize your name, but I'm glad you stopped by! :D I plan to keep RuneVillage up as long as I possible can (aka forever unless something goes catastrophically wrong, lol.)

I'm...not sure if I'm surprised or not that they accept bitcoin. I guess as the mining gets harder it'll probably become more stable, but there's still price fluctuations when big things happen...

And for the low, low price of 1 bitcoin you will be able to level all your stats to 90!

Obviously the feedback on this is going to be highly negative yet part of me hopes it isn't just for the lols.

Crazy. I wonder how they are supposed to put that on their income statement.
"Umm. Yes, we made xxxx less £ this year... but we have these shiny pixels on the computer too!"

I really hope that is fake. The game is already much easier now than it used to be. That would be worse than time savers for a game like AC rogue, buying supplies for real money that would take hours of continuous ship combat to get resources.

It's legit but they're not actually planning to add it in, just seeing if there is interest. Still... :facepalm:

Sorry about the thread hijack Namihy ^_^;

I thought that was just a joke that you found on the Internets somewhere...

IF they ever do that, it will be such a shame

They already DO accept bitcoins as payment for p2p services. However, Jagex keeps no bitcoins themselves. They use the services of a third party processor that accepts the bitcoins and deposits the pounds in Jagex's bank account.

This poses zero risk to Jagex and allows them to report their earnings in pounds. The big winner here are the customer that already use bitcoins that now can use them to pay for stuff.
