I have a question for just about anyone. This being my first game and all, did I come off as mafia or did I just kinda blend in? I tried to hang back and see how things played out so I wouldn't mess up and say something self incriminating. I just want to know for future reference in case I play mafia again.

Really it's hard to tell. New players like yourself have the benefit that none of us know how you would normally play the game, and anything you do that might be Mafia-esque could just be accidental first-time mistakes. You didn't really stick out to me (but I also didn't try to analyze what you did, for the above reasons.)

I tried bustin' your chops a bit. It wasnt really cause you did anything note worthy(excluding what was mentioned at the time-which wasnt major), it was more to see how you reacted. And to see how others reacted to my actions.

Jaron, now that we know everything we know this was a relatively balanced game.

There being a vigilante, doctor, and nearly unkillable member of the town swung things in your favor. Us having 5 mafiosos and there being a vig evened things out for us. Really the only reason we won was because of the inactivity, especially after sparky killed 40% of us. It easily could have gone the other way though, and we'd have won by d3-4. This is why in a game of this size a vig or sk should be subbed for a JoaT, which is what we thought we were dealing with.

The muting role was inconsequential because we were almost certainly not going to use it since it would negate a kill. I thought it might be a good idea for one night to mute a townie to confuse everyone, but then we all started dying, and we certainly couldn't afford to forgo a nightkill.

I guess it was good we decided not to target King. But another drawback was that both factions seemed to have role names but no roles.

Hello all!

For the amount of time I got to play, I must say was very fun.

In all the mafia games I had played so far I was a boring old townie, so I was really placing my hopes on this game that I would have some kind of role. What I got was more than I could ask for! I was told I knew no one but that I liked to stab things. YES. Not that I really have to defend myself but I definitely did not pick randomly:

I did not last long enough for my vote data to be of any use, but I keep MANY tabs on things. Seeing as I wanted to get as much bang for my buck as I could, I killed one person every night I could. My TOTALLY JUSTIFIED KILL LIST spare for moving my bro to the end of the list, was based off of who voted for someone without any real reason or added info, like a name and nothing else. So spare for Jaron, I killed off each person in order of said offense. Good thing too or I would have killed a second townie. Not that it maters seeing as my win condition was just to live apparently. Which I FAILED.

So anyway just to let you know. :)

P.S. I posted in the other games too that I voted by data.

My pm's flavor text alluded to lots of "uneasy feelings" and "you suspect you'll win when..." type of things, and then I noticed none of you knew who your godfather was when I sent the mass pm. I suspected there'd be a traitor type of role, but I also thought it'd be funny as hell if I didn't tell anyone. Then Top died and turned up a traitor, and I felt like I was right :)

This was also why I kept attempting and telling you guys you were puppies under the tires of my bus. I didn't trust a Fuzzy Bunny one of you.

Eh, I would still probably disagree. The Doctor is a game staple, while another staple, the Detective, was missing. The123king was nearly unkillable, yeah, but we also went a day without a lynch where presumably his missing vote was what held us back. (It would've lynched a Villager, but my point stands.) And Vigilantes do more to unbalance games then balance them, silly Lander. More often than not, a vigilante will wind up killing the Doctor or Detective and do much more harm than good. I think we really lucked out that Sparky had a 66% success rate and didn't hit any town power roles. :P

Not entirely sure about the balancing (and will never know since the town failed to achieve enough lynches), but I liked the idea of not telling anyone their win conditions or about whether they had powers in some cases. It was a fun experiment in mafia :)

<Still unlynched/unkilled/undefeated in all mafia games played, except the very first where I was lynched on a mis-count and the one before this where I was Jester and my lynch was a win. Is it time to retire? Never.....

I really want to play another game now. One where there are strict rules for activity and less players to combat inactivity. I seriously can not stand inactive games...

Maybe we should concentrate on running smaller games for shorter periods by rotating who plays and sits out etc.

It would also be nice to be a confirmed townie toward the end of a game. Its usually me trying to convince a confirmed townie that I am not mafia. Although this game was one of the first where I wasn't suspected near the end. That was pleasant. :)

That's a good idea Aragon. Also: inactivity in recently previous games puts you at the bottom of the list?

I didn't think I had been that inactive in recent games? I'll gladly sit out for the sake of activity though.

Yeah I'd like to play again too I suppose, though I am down with sitting out a game. I would also like to be considered for hosting in the near future but we have to see who's still around from the hosting list.

We could also do something really strict like if you fail to post one entire gameday you will be modkilled. But that would do more harm than good...I just don't see why people join mafia games if they think they might not be active, or moreover, if they're going to be intentionally inactive.

I think I'll sit out the next one so there's guaranteed activity in the game-after-next. :weird:
