No. Even though we no longer have Jagex support, private servers, hacking, botting etc are still banned here. and how the Fuzzy Bunny do you think you're gonna get anywhere demanding for a mod/admin spot? Just Fuzzy Bunny off, we don't need your kind here.

EDIT: My wording may have been a bit harsh there, lovefoto, and i apologise. But the point still stands. The Village, even without the backing of Jagex, still follows the basic rules outlined by Jagex. Private servers and botting are still taboo subjects here, and i doubt that will change for a long time. If you are willing to help by any means, we're unlikely to turn down support, especially at this precarious time. Just don't expect special treatment for your assistance. Everyone on RV is treated as equals, and respect has to be earned. As long as you follow our rules, you will have no problems. Don't, and you will soon find out the consequences.

Whoop-de-do, and I had access to the Staff Lounge in '08, '09. Doesn't negate the fact that all ateempts to "save" the Village have been done behind closed doors, with little input from the people who it really matters to. Joe Bloggs user.

He would get recognition. a shiny RV knight/prince/etc badge. Just giving money doesn't automatically grant you mod or admin privileges. And botting/hacking and private servers are still very much banned, unless something seriously changed since Jackstick became supreme ruler. Also, since Jagex did issue a takedown for all our guides, there's no point writing new ones. I think my words were fairly justified.

Also, looking at his previous accounts, it's not like he's been exactly "active" in the past 9 years, plus a history of being banned for botting isn't exactly going to help his cause.

EDIT: Trimmed out the blatant sarcasm.

Since you brought up the Website Team, let me remind you that I was only one of three leaders, and not even the top leader, and there were at least 10 more workers under us. You almost never communicated with anyone except for me and Glodenox; did you ever even build a communication with A5chow? So if you think your ideas were rarely being considered, then maybe it's because you were rarely considering the rest of the team.

I think pretty much everyone would be surprised by how difficult it is and how unrewarding it is. It's a freaking miracle that Glodenox stayed around long enough to help us out whenever server troubles arrived.

Also Demon, I don't know why you bash Jackstick so much. You guys got the homepage going. Do you know how many failed attempts (would you believe 4?) and how many years (would you believe BUNCHES?) it took to even get that far? Besides, you left a pretty bad impression when working on other stuff. You would always come into Chat and talk about how you told Pyro and Goten you were going to work on Digital-Complex, then laugh in their faces by telling them you decided to go mining on RuneScape instead of working on the site. Like, in a rude tone of voice, and at least two or three times. At the time, DC was your touted RV reboot. Why should the next RV reboot turn out any differently?

I wasn't trying to jump on your case, i was just saying that by saying you had access to the Staff Lounge implies that you were staff at some point. Much like I was back in 08 and 09 ish. Don't have access to it now due to turning down the staff elder rank though...

Can i have it now? pweeeeez?

Easy folks!

Keep in mind we're mostly friends here. There may be some disagreements, but let's not let them become personal.

First rule of building a volunteer group: Never turn down help. Although not everyone is an architect, and some of us can only carry a single brick, we need all the help we can get.

I would suggest that those willing to put in time and effort form a "revival" group, and that that group be given a forum in which to have specific discussions. The forum should be open for all to read, but only members of the team can post. That will sort of let everyone see what's going on, while not distracting from business at hand. Suggestions could be made to any member and new members added when they make the commitment.

At least for now, let things be decided by the consensus of the committee.

You have some folks who have expressed commitment. Now let's see how hot the fire really burns.

While I agree that help is important, it's also important to discern who gets what power by volunteering. In the case of lovefoto, I had nothing but problems with him in the clan chat, back when I was a very active moderator. I still have chat logs of him chewing me out over PM when I told him to calm down in the clan chat. He has never been one to reason or rationalize, and that's something that a moderator/admin must have in order for a community to succeed.

Donations are helpful, and guides/articles can be written, but it doesn't give you a position of power in a community like this.

I've just been at it long enough and know that once you say no to an idea, regardless how much support it may have, it is a done deal at no.

Jackstick wrote:

I only ever became sarcastic and short when every idea - regardless of potential - was shot down from the start.

Jackstick wrote:

I did communicate with others on many occasions. I simply didn't do it in a forum post. Why? Because this site has a terrible history of nothing happening because 2 years of discussion on perfecting something never brings anything forward. In a business environment, you will never have a perfect product on your initial release. Beta versions and test runs are a vital part of customer feed back in development of a better, final product. In the case of RV2, for example, everyone was too focused on a perfect release at the start as a means to success.. which ended up killing everything.

Jackstick wrote:

I recognize this, but it was more of a concern of actually getting things done. When I would post a topic of a question or on a feature that had been mentioned but ignored, it would go weeks with no responses. Group discussions are great and productive - when there are actual discussions. The idea is fine, but the execution was negligent.

Jaron wrote:

I respected Jack's opinions at this point. He was cooperative and really showed an interest in making the site work. The problem we've developed is a creeping sense of regression in interest leaving dead times on the forums... more now than before. Yet, even despite this many people are willing to try to make the site better... but change can't come if it won't be allowed. I understand Jack is a gifted web designer and damn disciplined when he sets his mind to it - his mockups still astound me for their quality and attention to detail. However, I think the focus on making a unique design took away from that.

Jaron wrote:

I genuinely meant to help them with their site. Pyro wouldn't take it seriously when he would talk to me about changes he wanted or anything concrete to even finish. Everytime we started talking he would eventually (in a matter of minutes) get distracted by video game talk and spam the chat with lawls and insults at other chatters. Forgive me if I had a hard time dedicating my time to something that wasn't being taken seriously - obviously no content was actually going to be written. None haveyet to be seen.

I don't mean to offend people in my responses or to attack, it's just the way it has been felt and I'm finally saying it in a realistic way. I haven't been the most active on the forums, I'll admit that, but I've always tried to stay busy working on the site and maintaining the well-being behind the scenes. Any attempts to join the community was met with ridicule and resistance for whatever reason, so I was always just coder Demon.. the elusive maker of stuffs.

I have a possible suggestion, Jack, that I am testing on an apache server where the front page is actually a restructured forum index page. You showed me a website with a similar setup where the forums were listed on the front page, but then announcements and articles could be streamlined directly from the forums and thus they would appear the same as they appear in Wordpress, but as a page with any secondary messages appearing below it like comments. The whole thing simply acts as a new skin for the forum's index page. Not necessarily like the RV2 concept of generating pages from phpbb but rather using a skin for the actual forums to move everything. Let me know what you think (everyone who reads and knows what I'm talking about).

Another thing, In order to promote more information getting to Google, perhaps dropping the login requirement to see all of the active forums and removing the ones that no longer need their own forum.

It looks like most forums can be moved to archives.. General chat covers most things that are discussed.

In fairness to defeat, I don't think he has access to Staff Lounge where most of the attempts some of us have referenced were held.

Therein lies the problem

Hey guys ok I finally could create a account. I'm lovefoto9 got banned back in 04 for autoing stalked around since un till around 2008 didn't have a Cpu un till 2010 played till 2011 got locked up but I'm getting a Cpu now. I will help pay for some of the server. I'm into private servers and I'm going check out rs07 and play on rsce p server. I'm totally down do simple guides etc. Of course I expect mod/admin spot but I will become active once I get computer. Be back later.

No. Even though we no longer have Jagex support, private servers, hacking, botting etc are still banned here. and how the Fuzzy Bunny do you think you're gonna get anywhere demanding for a mod/admin spot? Just Fuzzy Bunny off, we don't need your kind here.

Are you kidding me! That is not cool.
He literally said he wants to help, and you tell him to eff off? -.-
not ok.
Everyone that helps wants some recognition! Thats why titles like guide writers, chat mod etc were created.

Hey kido if I donate money come up with ideas unlike staff here currently do what entitles them to the spot? Move out the way for people who want to help sorry but I've been around here since 03 I don't want see this site die and if you disrespect me ( your newest joined member lol) well that's probably why we're in this spot .. people like you

This is more then likely true I just got out of prison. I had a drug problem I've changed had a daughter etc. But by you people flamming me your on the wrong track. And if I'm talking about paying for this site it ain't just a donation I want a say so in going on. And I believe we should move to private servers 07 classic and rs this way we have more spots for people look for guides forums etc. And I never said about being about autoing? But really what's the point in listening jagex rules most you don't play. But its time the people in charge Who don't have time/will/creativity to put their selves into keeping this forum alive gtfo out of the way of us who can... I saw yearly costs are around 70$ a year as it currently is? Hell I can take care that myself (would prefer to split it at least) god I can't wait to get my laptop.
