An accident on the highway has resulted in its closure.

My options: current course: hope its not that bad and wait for the highway to reopen; as I am only 60km from my destination.
Plan B: turn around, go back to town, and take the other highway. Resulting in driving an extra 480km around the accident.

What do you do when you are bored and stuck in traffic?

That's tough luck. 480km is a really long way to go around it, so unless the accident is REALLY bad I'd stick it out. For two and a half years, I had a job with a basically two-hour round trip commute each day, so I saw my share of bad traffic and closures. My longest commute was the day a semi crashed on the bridge, closing the bridge, and everyone went around on different bridges, turning nearby towns into total gridlock. It took me over three hours to get to work that day. (But the guy the semi hit died, so all in all I guess I had a better day than him.)

When I'm bored and stuck in traffic, I generally turn on my radio or iPod if I'm not already doing so. I listen to AM talk radio a lot so while I was working I was always up-to-date on the latest news stories and whatnot.

Yeah, im glad I didnt turn around. They were able to open up a lane in an hour and a half.
When I went by I was only able to see one car.(the other was presumably hit into the trees). It was on the shoulder of the road and had the front end pushed up into the windshield. It was burnt to a crisp.

AM radio. I'll try that next time!

It depends where you live and what the stations are like. For the St. Louis area, we only have 1120 AM and 550 AM. 1120 AM (KMOX) is my favorite, because the people on it are just excellent and fun. They do about 5 minutes of CBS news every hour on the hour so you can keep up with stories around the world, and they did weather on :15 and :45 past and traffic every ten minutes. I don't know much about where you are, but you might have something similar!

But i meant the job. It seems to be

welp. it started in april and was scheduled to go until the second week of august.
but job scope changes, several rain delays, and subsoil stabilisation issues have extended it until mid October.

after this I will go to a new job. maybe for a new client. maybe new area.
