A while ago I tried to install a mod but I didn't think to update my minecraft first, and naturally it crashes minecraft. I updated it and it still won't open, I hear an error sound and that's it. I found out a temporary work around by opening Minecraft with a bat file. But now the issue is on my ass again. FTB won't open because no java virtual machine has been discovered and it will just close after that. I've tried deleting all the minecraft files, re-downloading minecraft, tried deleting java and re-installing, nothing's worked yet.

:?: That's an odd issue you've got there, can't think of anything besides the methods you tried to fix it. I'll have a browse and see if I can find something.

Also, is there any claims etc. for land? What's the policy on claims?

Holy Fuzzy Bunny, I found a fix.
If anyone's wondering or if you came from google some how...
fix for XP:
Go to My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Enviroment Variables
Then under System Variables,click new
and put in the first box: _JAVA_OPTIONS
Second box: -Xmx512m

That fix you did increases the amount of memory the Java Virtual Machine is given from 64 MB to 512 MB. Looks like FTB Minecraft needed more RAM in order to run correctly.

I needed to do it in general, neither FTB nor normal minecraft would run normally.

You can increase the amount of RAM allocated to Minecraft in the FTB Launcher options. I have it set to 5GB (which is the recommended maximum) and before I did that I had a hard time getting FTB to run properly.

I've discovered an issue. It might be a conflict between my version of FTB ultimate and the servers version. Basically, I can't create the macerator on the server (but can in my SSP with the same recipe). I don't know if it's just me, but I remember rip having a slight issue with creating something else the other day in the same way.

I'm thinking maybe we should just disable GT? Because it's causing all sorts of issues and annoyances that aren't necessary to making the game better.

EDIT: Turns out the recipe that NEI shows for the Macerator is the hard mode recipe. We have the easy recipes enabled server side so the quarry might only require the original recipe.

I deleted the GregTech mod from the folder a few days ago. If it's still running I don't know how.
It might be that Op status is required to create a few things, which would be odd. I know Lunar_Flame recently needed Op to adjust portal guns in some way. If this is the case, I might have to undo the Op list wipe. >_>

I didn't realise you had done that, my client still had it installed and reflected that in NEI's recipe viewer.

It doesn't block them. The solution to this is to just look up the item on the FTB wiki. It should show the recipe, both original and GT. Use the original.

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

I've got an issue with the advanced solar panels, seems like the non-GT and easy mode GT don't work, so it leaves the hard mode GT recipe, but we have GT disabled don't we?

EDIT: Just realised the hard mode advanced solar panels were changed by the author of the advanced solars mod and not Gregtechs author. Any chance we could change this?

It's changeable in the config by going to AdvancedSolarPanel.cfg and changing this line:

B:"Enable simple Advanced Solar Panel recipe"=false
to
B:"Enable simple Advanced Solar Panel recipe"=true
