I won't strike out the below text because it still matters.
However, after poking around, I learned I'm paying $8 a month for 512 mb of RAM on an outdated "Grass" server pack. The current cheapest / "worst" pack is "Stone", $10 a month (formerly like $15) for 1 gb of RAM.
So yeah. When everyone except probably Lunar and Aragorn are asleep and not thinking of it, I'm probably gonna be upgrading the server and re-uploading the files as best I can. $2 more a month for double the power to run this stuff should be doing quite a bit of good for us.

Turns out it was possible for Aim2Game to just bill me another $2 and update the server as soon as it was paid. Sweet. We should be running things much better now.

Download the FTB client if you haven't and get crackin'.

About 6:00 p.m. CST on Tuesday, 06/18, I'm going to go through with a final backup of the server's files and attempt a complete restart of the map. The moment I know the server's working, FTB Ultimate is going to be added to the server.

Or to call it quits?
It's been a fun time hosting the server. But it's also been at least a week since anyone's been on, and a lot more since it's been anyone more than Sparky and Vinny.

I've had quite a bit of fun and pride hosting a server for us, and definitely will try to get a copy of the finished world to share around if anyone wants a slice of it. But the thing is huge, and does cost money to keep afloat. If we're scrapping the world to start over, we'll need to talk about survival vs. creative and how far we wanna go with rules for it. After all, we've already got basically two worlds devoted to creative mode creations.

I'd definitely play more if we did survival mode instead of creative, but it's been fun when I've been able to get online.

I'd be willing to play again and not grief and get banned as a result like I did around this time last year.

I agree with Aragorn that Survival mode would be good, maybe we could move things forward by adding some mods like buildcraft, tekkit or thaumcraft to keep things interesting as well.

Feed the beast ultimate is the modpack I use on my SSP game, it's really fun and expansive.

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

Let's try narrowing this down a bit to which, if any, are wanted by more than just their individual posters.

Feed the Beast and Direwolf are modpacks not individual mods, so there's a lot of overlap. For instance the crafting guide, thaumcraft and buildcraft amongst others are in feed the beast ultimate. Similar situation with direwolf.

You're right. In both Feed The Beast Ultimate and Direwolf20 are all the main components of Feed The Beast such as Thaumcraft, Bees, Redpower, and Buildcraft. Honestly the only real difference between FTB Ultimate and Yogcraft or Direwolf20 is that they're more stripped-back versions of the mod that let's players have been using, sometimes with a couple of added mods thrown in for convinience. If we want an all-in-one solution then FTB Ultimate would probably be the way to go.

My sentiments exactly, and because I know what I'm doing with most of the mods it contains! If we do go for FTB ultimate then I would suggest disabling gregtech, it makes everything harder to get for no real reason.

I don't know. I'd like to say I'd play again, but I'm always so busy that I know I couldn't make anything as large as I did when we first started. I've also never been a fan of using mods, and the game has taken some weird turns from when it first came out. I'm glad that when I brought MineCraft here that it kicked off into something so big, but I feel like it may be time to let go.

I say restart it and see how the activity goes, and if nothing happens with it then just don't renew the server. As always, though, upload the map data first.

If a FTB Ultimate server was made that was online 24/7, myself and a friend would play.

Perhaps for the sake of trying something different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7tSLJypqK0

It's in early alpha, but as far as creativity, it already seems way more powerful than Minecraft. Haven't tried it personally though.

I don't know about you but I play more for the survival gameplay than building things (which I do like doing as well).

Welp. Got the map downloaded, but it won't render on Cartographer.

File size put in perspective... Anyone who remembers Steely's idea of passing along a file for a shared Creative world will probably find their versions of the file somewhere close to 4.28 mb while compressed. This server? 129 mb compressed.

Siiiigh. Regardless, I've got the world saved if anyone wants it.

FTB is basically tekkit and more (minus the condensors and collectors from EE2).

I was making a secret ravine lava minecart ride but I lost the motivation to finish it when everyone got griefed. I did contribute to Vinny's ginormous maze though, so you guys should check that out.

Sparky wasn't on because he was in Europe the last two weeks.
