When do you play monopoly, Jack? I want in.

The mafia games keep me active on rv, but I generally lurk even when we aren't playing.

Usually around night, between 10pm-2am CST, on Pogo. We organize the games on Skype, so PM me your information and I'll message you the next time we play a game. :awesome:

I think, like most here - that we come back due to the attachment we have. Which was mainly generated from the community we had.

There are a fair few people not here anymore just because they have 'grown up'..

I think activity will never return - we are one of thousands.. millions? of sites/forums; that pretty much cover everything..

It will be finding something we can uniquely pivot on, in order to attract new users.

I agree it would cause some people to check in. But in this day and age I don't think it should be allowed.

On most websites these days, your provision of an Email address includes you in any marketing, or mass email lists, unless you opt out. Thats what emails are for, information delivered to you.

How do you consider it an invasion of privacy? How do you feel about junk mail?

Most websites, fansites etc send out blanket emails to there registered users. I do not see the issue?
I completely agree, but only with the "on most websites these days" part. RuneVillage was created in 2002. For many of us, the e-mail we used to sign up has been lost and forgotten and isn't even used anymore. If I were to get an e-mail from a forum that I joined 10 years ago (which has never happened) I would view it as a big act of desperation on their part and the first thing I'd do is unsubscribe, like Jack said.

I appreciate that, the email address I had registered to this account was 7/8 years old until a month ago. So I see your point, and I take that on board.

You will have to excuse my enthusiasm, sometimes it blinds me!

No no, you were totally right and I'm glad you posted your thoughts. A few years ago I specially made extra spam e-mail accounts to give to places when I sign up--I didn't do that back when I joined RV, but it's definitely something that you simply expect nowadays.

That being said, I did join a few forums in 2003, and if one of them today sent me an e-mail, my first thought would be "How low have THEY sunk if they trying to contact ME after the 7-9 years I've been gone, and using info I didn't even remember I gave them to do it? Forget that."

You're better off messaging me or just posting it publicly, at this point since I do most of the updates/changes to the code and thus the direction of the site. ;)

Coding ≠ site direction, :P so let's keep these discussions public.

That response actually came out wrong. Most of the information there was irrelevant to my point - Malkin said "i dropped an idea on the administrators of the community." The administrators contains mostly Jack and inactives. THEREFORE, I meant simply that it would have been a better idea to message me where I could then proceed to harass you until you took notice and eventually made a public thread. As per usual.

;D Sorry for the ill-written response.

Keep doing reviews and articles. Now that we're not soulbound to runescape alone, we can branch out. When I get time/money I'd like to keep doing some more in-depth reviews of various anime and some games I play.

The more diverse a list of reviews and articles we get, it'll set a wider net for the site as a whole.

And it can range from like, movies/shows, foods/recipes, games, videos, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I still like Runescape. But in a way it's not so bad we're not totally devoted to it alone.

We never claimed it was lively these days.

But if people didn't still value it, they wouldn't donate to keep it online. We're set all the way through 2013, even.
