This is why your comments are so insulting. You really think we need religion to tell us that shooting up a room full kindergartners is immoral? Really? The people committing these mass killings know that what they are doing is wrong, they just don't care. Even if they were religious (which I'm sure some have been), it wouldn't have made a difference, because religion doesn't cure crazy. The people doing these things have deep deep issues, it goes so so far beyond "having a set of standards and morals". I'm honestly taken aback you actually wrote that.

Arch was just explaining his viewpoint on how he believes on this topic. He was just stating that maybe someone who found "their way" wouldn't be driven to do the things that have happened. Not just to this mishap, but to others and future ones.

And Apple was just explaining his viewpoint on how the people who have found "their way" are not at all of the same mindset as these kinds of killers. Someone who is on a mission to kill (ignoring the religious devouts who do it for their God) will not care about the Bible when they have decided ahead of time "I am going to kill my family, those who they cared for, and then myself". Jesus isn't going to stop that train of thought, he is not the sole answer to that train of thought, and the lack of conscience that goes into that train of thought is not solely fixed with religion.
So yes, while Arch was voicing his valid opinion, its has little to no place here given the killer's unstable mindset.

Religion isn't always the right answer. I Suggest You Come To Terms With It.

I never said religion was the answer. I just know if it was me I would pray on it. You can feel insulted all you want. Doesn't change anything. What the guy did was wrong, religion or no religion. I pray for the families of the deceased. Enough said. Stop with the pissing contest.

I am the farthest thing from religious. I am more see it to believe it, but I was just helping out Arch when Apple went off about religion. There are some people who actually practice and undoubtedly believe in their religion and we must accept that. There are things out of our control like this shooting. Someone had a bad day or is mentally unstable. Things Happen.

If that right there had been all you said on this topic, I'd be taking you seriously.
But, y'know, it wasn't. So I'm not.

(P.S. I think it's a bad sign when you try to lie about who brought up religion first just for the sake of your argument.)

Good point, nobody has ever killed in the name of religion.

Way to take his comment out of context. There's a difference between being religious and a religious nut job.

I wasn't lying. The first three posts over religion.
Finding Jesus
Then downhill from there.

So referencing Jesus isn't referencing religion.
... 'kay. It's official, you're a troll. For a while I thought it was you just being dumb.
Time to mail Jack or Monk for a topic cleaning.

The bit about cleaning the topic, maybe. I doubt the world is going to get bent out of shape because a few people on this site are (like most people of the world anyway) getting into it over politics, religion, etc. as opposed to simply mourning for the event.
The first two lines, though, no. Arya's either a troll, stupid, or just both.

Why is everyone getting so bent out of shape in here!?
I don't get it.

No one needed to jump on AOB for his statement. If the shooter did live his life like the way the stories say christ did, then the world would be a better place.

And kikori, you very well could be miss interpreting his message.
This:
"The first three posts over religion.
Finding Jesus
Then downhill from there."

Meant:
The first three posts that mentioned religion.
The first of which included "find jesus".
The second and proceeding messages on the topic went downhill from there.

Ninja'd: I am agreeing with sayaka here.

Yes let's all take a deep breath and "just f**kin relax ay". I don't think there is anything worth intentionally insulting someone over in this thread.

Apple didn't "go off" about religion at all, in fact I'd say his response was very tame considering the complete irrelevance, absurdity and <insert nicer synonym for stupidity> of AB's original comment...

Anyway there has been slowly more information coming to light about the event and in particular the family of the alleged perpetrator. The mother was a bit of a gun (and just a general) nut apparently.

This. I don't want to steer this topic in any particular direction, because there are a million different discussions and debates to be had on this incident, and I'm not gonna be the one who decides which ones are right or wrong... but let's stop with the personal attacks. I fully expect there to be some disagreements and debates in this topic, but at least be respectful to each other. Thank you.

Ya, no Fuzzy Bunny. This is one of the worst acts perpetrated in the history of mankind. If he had lived his life like ANY of the other 100 billion humans that preceded him the world would be a better place. Jesus has no relevance to this discussion.

Jesus was just a simple solution to something that has already happened. This topic went downhill the day after it was created...

Anyways it was terrible what happened. At my store's christmas party ( the same day ) our store director cried and we said a prayer about them before anything happened. I suppose only those who survived throughout this could determine the true pain of this, but also those who have children of their own must know the fear, panic, depression, and just how much it would kill you if your baby did not come home one day from school.

School is supposed to be one of the safest places your child can be aside from with you. What is left when that is taken away?

Posts here have mentioned social climate, gun control, and religion, and barely managed to avert a flame war.

I'm curious.

Why hasn't anyone brought up the entirely relevant topic of mental health treatment?

Just a thought. I'm not insinuating anything here. Not a fan of controversy, personally.
