Bump!

Got it at the midnight release. Great so far, but on the same token, nothing has set it apart from the original. At all. More to come.

I was reading on some forums that the Soldier class was sort of nerfed. True? I loved Roland, pure badass.

I have it downloaded and installed, but sadly I have to work again tonight. So no BL2 for me until tomorrow at 7:45 when I get home. Doubt I'll sleep tomorrow. :awesome:

Welp, I'm currently lv 14 and am playing as a soldier. Though I don't remember too many specifics of Roland from last game, it seems the soldier class has changed for the worse. :s

It's just less centered on assault rifles and whatnot, and much more centered on using your turret. Which to me, is lame. There are still some assault rifle buffs, but not many. It allows for less freedom because at times, you are almost *required* to use your turret to stay alive. On the same token, you can use weapons other than assault rifles without much of a penalty. But who would want to? :weird:

Am only doing this playthrough to pass the time til the Mechromancer comes out. :awesome:

And ten+ hours into the game I stand by what I said. It's virtually 100% the same as Borderlands 1 with few changes. Am I enjoying myself? Of course. Did I want a carbon copy of the prequel? Hell no. But it's still pretty early on, so yeah.

I haven't played much but it feels "different". Feels as if it should be the first one, not the second - better version.

My thoughts exactly. It just feels like a really, really long expansion for the first one, not a whole new game. And I get not fixing what isn't broken, but they could have at least put something fresh in. Currently lv 19 and have yet to be very impressed with this game. I didn't even finish the expansions for Borderlands 1 because I fell into a rut, it just got to be too repetitive for me. This game feels the same way.

I guess it just really boils down to what's driving me to play this game...it's not the story, though amusing, it's mostly ridiculous and I have a hard time caring. When the best parts are optional side missions, your game isn't the best. It isn't a want to level up, nor is it a want to find the best guns...

I guess I'm playing mostly out of boredom. :?: I don't know what I expected from this game, but it isn't really giving it to me. I'm playing out of a need to because I paid 60 bucks for it and waited for the midnight release in the rain after rocking a 9hr shift on my feet at Walmart.

I know that the game is 100000% more fun in co op mode, but I'm on borrowed internet and have no friends that can really play with me irl. I know that local multiplayer and one player gaming has gone the way of the 8 track tape, but god damn.

I just hope Borderlands isn't the next Halo/CoD/whatever. The original was just that, *original*, but you have to make changes and take some liberties with sequels to have a success and keep things fresh.

Maybe I've become to cynical, and the awesomeness of Skyrim and coolness of games like Dragon Age and Dragon's Dogma have warped my sense of gaming.

I feel the same way.

Do you feel that they have limited the amount of "free roaming" as well? I keep trying to jump on rocks that you could have easily done in BL1, only to be blocked in BL2.

I don't like the Gunzerker class, so I'll be making a new character in about 5 minutes.

I agree. And the weird part is that sometimes you have to do the platforming thing and jump on rocks/terrain to get to where you need to be. And other times it's just impossible.

I'm only playing soldier right now. I mean to try out siren and/or assassin as well. As I said. Waiting for the mechromancer.

I started a new character, a soldier. Enjoying it much more now. The turret, while slightly nerfed, is still VERY effective. With that and a 40 damage revolver, Captain Flynt went down fast.
