Its all right saying that jack but your the admin, if any one has power to do these things it is you.

We need a different name for sure, Runevillage is not a name we can function under for a few reasons such as we no longer support runescape and they us, also other reasons the name is associated with that many of you know. (Just google Runevillage)

The main page like you said used to be full of Runescape guides (tho outdated), now its just a husk of what it once was. I do not feel that it needs to go but it dose need something to give it meaning/life/reason/direction.

I also feel that we are just gona lose members one by one untill we are down to less than a dozen, we have nothing to pull new members in, noting to set us apart. Why should they vist runevillage? what makes us different from the 1,000,000 sites out there.

ok so we are a gaming site,

what games do we play?
what servers do we run?
what lets play videos do we have?
what walkthroughs/guides/hints/cheats do we have

I think people need to let go of Runevillage and maybe embrace something like Gamervillage/ Gamer's shanty ect.

But meh thats just how i feel

No. My rank gives me a lot of authority, not a lot of power, not the power needed to save this site. I can't do it all on my own, in fact I refuse to. If you're all going to depend entirely on just me or Glodenox, then this site is already dead.

I'll work with you guys if we can miraculously put together a thriving team and work environment, but I'm not going to do this alone. I'll let this site die before I let myself get put into another hopeless position.

I've been meaning to post this a while ago. The site we know and love is dead. I agree with EVERYTHING that Jack said.

First and foremost: The name HAS to go. Everything about it brings up bad feelings, resentment, and a link to a game almost none of us play anymore. Change it to The Village, or Jack's Stick Emporium, or something. ANYTHING. In my opinion, this has to be the first thing we do.

Second: I agree completely on scratching the front page. Tumblr sounds like an awesome idea. I'm sorry if I'm treading on toes, believe me, I appreciate all the work put into that page that everyone did, but there's just no use for it anymore.

Third: If we cut everything but the forums, will this give us cheaper hosting?

Forth: Henner has to post. Now.

Fifth: See number 4.

Sixth: Here's my small project. Everyone, ask one person you know in real life to come here and check out the site. Say it's a cool place to post what you think online in a small community. That's it, don't pressure them, don't make them feel like they have to, just have them come here and browse the forums for a little bit. Starting small.

EDIT: Is it time for some ads on the site? Not many, just a few.

i mean with the new name. the removing of the front page, give me a task and i can do it. I got no idea what i should do other than just mod the boards, infact the last thing i did was host a TF2 event on the server had and make a big free to play games list.

1.) Associating a name with bad feelings is stupid, in my opinion.
2.) Hate to say, but I do agree as well.
3.) Most likely not by much, if anything at all, but that's not my forte.
4.) You know he won't take us seriously. We tried this once.
5.) Time for another mutiny?
6.) I wish this luck. It's worked for quite a few people so far.
EDIT: I doubt it. The money is there, as was stated before, just not being spent.

I supported keeping the name many months ago, but now I feel it must go. The Village sounds great, sticks with the "theme", but at the same time sort of spreads us out and away from RuneVillage.

By Jack being the top guy, I didn't mean owner. The owner and the guy in charge are two totally different things. Since Henner is busy with real life, we need someone that "the buck stops here" with. They make the absolute and final call. Done. Over with. No more discussion. Jack is that guy right now. I'm not saying Jack has the be THE ONLY one working on anything, but the one that makes the final decision. That's all. We are here to support each other, the site, and ourselves.

And Jack, this is directed right at you, if you need anything......please PM me. My life has calmed down quite a bit and I'm on a normal work schedule of 3 days a week (that's 12 hour shifts, I'm not that damn lazy!). I'm more than willing to return to my previous rank and help you along the way the best I can. It's obvious I still care for the site immensely (see donation). I don't give my money out to people for the fun of it (strippers are another story).

Kind of like the Japanese announcers who won't shut up while Alexei Yagudin is on the ice.

I never thought about it much before but I think I'm also in favor of obliterating the main site. What does it have?

  • Links to Forum and Chat - Oh wait, we have that here.
  • Tweets from 224 days ago - No thanks
  • RVET box claiming a Minecraft competition is currently "happening now!" - Wait no it's not whoops
  • Copied global announcements - We already have them
  • The Village Library - Wait no all our stories are still kind of lost to the wind, well Fuzzy Bunny.

Yeah just...just kill it.

I agree with everything Jackstick said.

I agree with "The Village" and scrapping the front page. I do think we should at least keep the runevillage domain to forward though so old returning members can find it.

That might've worked in the past, like 2006ish, if we were to merge with a tools site like Draynor or RSBandB, but it's not an option anymore. We have no direction, no resources, and no work force. We would probably be absorbed; it wouldn't be an equal merge. It would basically be like deleting everything here and trying to convince you guys to go register to another site.

I might be okay with that if the owner were someone besides Henner. As the "top guy" I'd also have to maintain a regular communication with Henner, in which for the last 11 days I've had a 0% success rate. Even though he's been called, texted, emailed, facebook'd, and voice-mailed by Hiker and I. I need someone that I can count on, and Henner is not that person. Glodenox is. I know Glodenox is busy these days, but I also know that he's the sort of person who would respond to an important message in under 24 hours, and take care of the problem in the best way he can.

Thanks. :awesome: I'm glad to hear that your life is more organized now. As for returning to your previous rank, are you sure that's something you want to do? You remember what it's like, don't you? Being an admin sucks. It's the worst rank to have on this site. I have absolutely no problem with you returning as an admin, but just know that the staff forums are in ruins. There's nothing substantial happening in The Play Pen or any of the other staff forums, and the motivation is non-existent.

Sayaka wrote:

Actually The Library kind of still exists, here. I guess we should save all the stories and post them on the forums, though. That page looks like it's hanging on by a thread.

As for a new name, I like "The Village", but I just checked http://www.thevillage.com and http://www.thevillage.net are already reserved. So I think we'll need to come up with another name, unless someone here wants to spend $3,000-$10,000 to purchase those domains. Personally I'd like the name to still have "village" in it, but I'm open to anything.

Keyword: "active coders"

My site is already like half coded and fairly simple in concept. And after it's finished I can't imagine it needing much maintenance. It is definitely something that someone could do solo in a realistic (possibly even short??) amount of time, assuming Demon's progress and explanations of what would be needed during the time he was able to work on it are any indication.

Nice try though. :spite:
