Today sees the long-awaited launch of the 10 Year Veteran Cape – a cape available only to members that have been playing RuneScape for 10 years or more. A lot can happen in 10 years - just take a look at RuneScape back in 2002!

The gates of Gielinor had barely been open a year when Ardougne made its first appearance on the map, and the poor (or should that be rich?) Carnilleans first fell victim to the heinous Hazeel Cult. 2002 was also the year that Tutorial Island welcomed many new visitors to RuneScape, and many an adventurer also met their demise at the hands of the newly-arrived King Black Dragon!

Back in the real world, 2002 saw Japan and Korea host the FIFA World Cup, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers first hit cinema screens.

If you’ve been playing our game for 10 years, you certainly deserve a special item to mark this magnificent commitment. This prestigious garment is is available to members only, a members item and it can be purchased from Hans, who can be found in the grounds of Lumbridge Castle.

Before you head off to get your cape and enjoy its impressive new emote, we’d just like to say a big thank you to all of our loyal players, and we look forward to creating further veteran capes as and when each new milestone arrives!

Also - they didn't put a news post regarding it, but they finally implemented a full on cash shop.

Oh look is that Micro transactions i see, i called that bs ages ago even when people told me that Jagex promised they would never do it.

As for the cape it looks Fuzzy Bunny, looks like some one was drinking strawberry, peach and cherry alcoholic beverages then threw up on the back of some ones cape.

Any one got a link for the emote?

Edit: says i am just under 1 year away from the cape

Got mine today too, I'd still prefer to have a Scythe or Bunny Ears but it's nice to have some recognition for how old my account is anyway.

Nope, just cosmetic items and emotes at the moment. Though since they've pretty much discontinued Bonus Exp Weekends now my theory is that it's only a matter of time before they start selling XP boosts in one form or another.

Now to spend the rest of my membership doing RSC quests and never subscribe again because cashshoplol.

Some days, I just wish that RS went into an unalterable state. A state where the game functioned normally, but jagex couldn't go in and Fuzzy Bunny it up anymore.

I can claim mine in December. About what I had estimated.

I actually don't mind the cash shop as long as it stays strictly cosmetic. Which it totally won't.

Now if only I actually had any money.

It looks terrible.

I'm guessing you can't check how long you have to wait if you're f2p?

Although I know when I started Muscular Ape, it'd be interesting to check my first account.
