hey!
so i am beginning to plan a trip to the UK. the trip is for me to visit my girlfriends family for 2 weeks, and then go do some touristy things. the touristy part is what i need your help with!
i want to know what attractions i should see. i will dedicate the last week of my 3 week trip, to getting out and seeing sights. i will be there at the end of may/beginning of june.
i would like to know what you guys have seen before, and how you liked it. and what you would recommend.

thanks!

Obviously London Eye, Big Ben, Gherkin, Thorpe Park (Theme Park), HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace.

Starting off in scotland. Arbroth area and Edinburgh.
Then, I have no clue where I will end up.

I will be renting a vehicle. So this will help with getting around too

Edinburgh Castle, loads of Lochs around that part of Scotland (may be a bit of a trek though)

Regarding Scotland: If' you're willing to spend a good chunk of time, consider heading to through the highlands and to the west coast of Scotland - Get over to Oban for sure, maybe to some of the isles. You'd want to take your time through the highlands, though, which is why I say take a couple days - don't just go straight there and back. If not, St. Andrews makes a good day trip. And that's all on top of whatever time you spend in Edinburgh - If you want pub recommendations while you're there, let me know.

After that, head south and do what you will. A stop at Lindisfarne would be nice.

I'd suggest avoiding London. It's a bit of a pointless cliché to go there as a tourist. :P

Plan your trip based on the location of Villagers! Couch Surf for as long as possible!

Great way to travel cheap, meet Villagers, and do things as a local would instead of touristy Fuzzy Bunny.

phat - save your pennies! ...seriously though, its not cheap. with the cost of this trip, i could pay back nearly a quarter of my student loans.

koolman - i thought of this. briefly. like less than 0.04 seconds haha then figured it would make me feel to awkward like imposing. and extra awkward saying: hey, thanks for letting me in. now what about the GF too... pleeeeeease.

also, i have added myself to the wait list for top gear tickets ;) JUST in case :D

London's a pretty good place to visit, but IMO it's not worth driving there from scotland just to see it.

I love scotland, it's well worth a long drive through the highlands, and seeing the Nevis range.

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.
