They want free stuff. They want free money. I'm disgusted by the fact that they're so choosy with their jobs, yet they complain that they can't get jobs.

So if I go down there to protest, does that mean those people represent me as well? Well then, get me any job so I can represent a group of people at least... You know, I can't represent myself only

Yes, and you represent them to an extent. These are not anomalies.

That's just laughable.

You can't fix it from the inside...well then how the hell do you fix it? :?:

Those people are rude, at best; and perhaps pathetic examples of Americans and people at worst. "Oh I've got two kids, this job can't feed them but I can't work full time..." Possibly the most outrageous statement I've ever heard a woman utter, and that's saying quite a lot. :awesome:

People outside this protest aren't stupid, and they realize what kinds of people are occupying the park or whatever. Nothing at all will come of this, because they're not doing anything.

I agree completely, Lander.

And further more....I've been laid off for like almost 2 years now. Being in a profession that's a dying art especially in the region I'm in has made me look for ANY job at this point....I'm either over qualified (whatever that means) or I don't get a call at all...These people in that video PISS ME OFF.

You are aware that there is a debate forum, which is probably better suited for topics such as these?

If this is debate, every topic should be in the debate forum.

Just because you don't like a topic doesn't mean it belongs in a forum you can ignore.

You'll find a LOT of people without jobs, it is by their own choosing. They'd rather wait months for welfare or whatever pathetic excuse they use to kick in instead of working a minimum wage job like millions of other Americans. "My time isn't worth $7/hr".

Neither is your life. Here's a $0.50 bullet, go end it.

Well gents, no need to complain then. Without them, the job market's more open, eh?

Well also, no offense to any people, but maybe if you chose to do something about your apparently pathetic life, then there would be no need to protest (this is to the protestors, not Burks). I understand maybe you might not have been raised "from a decent family" or had "financial problems" which you can't help to fix and the government isn't helping, yeah I get that. But there are also people who did have a choice to help themselves. If you start becoming an alcoholic and a drug addict at 16, deliberately fail school, and disregard your close family and friends' advice, well DUH you're bound to have problems later on. It's what goes around comes around/karma/etc. If you get a good education, become a decent person, partake in sports, whatever else, you're bound to have a nice future.

Again, not everyone might have had the chance to make it big, but it's still what you make out of your life. I mean, you could have been a drug addict while young and still become successfull. Sure, luck may be involved, but if you have a generally positive attitude, anything could go your way.
It's just a little annoying when I see these people protesting about unfair stuff they were perfectly capable of avoiding. Somewhat hypocritical in a sense :/

I love how that lady looks at each job application and says, "No, we can't do that."

I'm going to Occupy Wall Street for class on Saturday. Will report how I feel.

Apparently this has become some kind of national/global phenomenon. A sociology professor (one that I actually hate) at my university is offering extra credit to students who occupy wall street. The alternative?

A 20 page paper. :?:

I'd be in the Dean's Office about that so fast for that blatant political agenda, it's not even funny.

That prof can have his opinions, but he shouldn't be politicizing his assignments.

We're going to check it out because we're here and it is a major cultural event, even if people disagree with it.

Yeah there's quite an uproar here about it, but the university authorities are supporting her because the extra credit is for soc class, and it IS a sociological event. *shrugs*

And I'm not in her class, I only read about it. I took her class three years ago as a freshman.
