As you're all aware, the ownership of the domain has been moved over from hiker to Henner. When this was done, however, the amount of donations dropped to an absolute low. This was understandable as people didn't want to donate to hiker for the domain. The donate page has now been changed so all money goes to Henner's Paypal account.

With this change, we decided to also tell you how much RuneVillage costs to host. So here we are:
$100 each quarter of a year. So roughly $33.3 per month for the actual server.
The domain names are about $12/year (I think we got 4 or 5 of them).

Our first payment of $100 is actually already over due: it was due for Oct. 20, but we received a bit of leeway. We should get it done by Monday though. I'm willing to jump in if we don't make it, but I'd prefer not to pay everything myself :?

So if you've got some spare money, please do visit the donate page: http://www.runevillage.com/community/donate.html

Greetings,
Glodenox

I feel's like it's the Donation's drive all over again, but it;'s good to know exactly what the server etc costs. (And so what your money goes towards).

Not so much of a donation drive as an update to RV's financial situation. People want to know where their donations are going, now they know. Also the questions about the cost of RV per month have finally been answered.

It wasn't their choice to tell us before, nor do I think the cost remained the same between Hiker's ownership and Henner's.

Regardless, finally. $35 a month seems plentifully easy to gather. That's literally seven people donating $5 apiece, and with how many members are on a monthly subscription, there's clearly enough to go around in the name of Villagers with discretionary income. So we need a minimum of seven people to be able to toss a $5 bill to the village a month, and more would be handy in case someone has to pull themselves from the list. This method is the least intrusive into any one person's bank account, and even adding the Runescape membership to this donation method makes it less per month than a WoW membership.
All aboard?

In light of the release of the Donating page, links around the site have been returned to link you to that lovely page.

However, I believe it's time to re-do that page because it is ugly as hell. x.x'

Runevillage the forum is pretty well much done. Runevillage the group will eventually die, but as long as we're still friends with each other in the end, it's still a pretty big thought in our heads. Runevillage the family is forever, no matter where we settle down. If absolutely nothing else ever comes of Runevillage in the future, that alone is a pretty damn awesome thought.

Same here, especially now that I know where it goes. New York is expensive for a college student, so I won't be able to donate until student loans come around in January when I'm back in Florida.

Believe it or not, this is news to most (perhaps all) RV admins (current and past), too. I'm not sure if even Glodenox knew all of the server cost details prior to the change of ownership.

Honestly, the previous owner made the costs seem so much higher than they really are. Nice to know it's reasonably priced.

Pretty much that. We had no idea if it was $10 a month or $100 a month. Nor were we ever even given a clue to the cost. We could have made the announcement a few weeks ago, but our hosting wasn't set in stone either. So to give a false number would have just been stupid.

All extra proceeds will be used by Henner for a nose job.

The only hint we had before was that Sah donated $80, which was "About half" according to Hiker. The guess was $150. It was still never official 'til now.

I've already made my undisclosed donation amount, which will be monthly (as long as Henner reminds me).
