So, I just finished watching The Game with Michael Douglas. The the film is the story of an investment banker who signs up for a service to turn his life into a "game." The game grows and grows until it basically seems the whole world is trying to do him in. This film would be an utter Fuzzy Bunny for anyone already having paranoia issues.

Got me thinking of what other bizarre films I've seen. Being John Malkovich probably tops the list, and is one of my favorite movies to boot. Less twists and turns than The Game, but has so many surreal moments in just for kicks (Floor 7 1/2, chimps with childhood trauma, the puppet routines, oh god I can go on for so long). The Truman Show is a up there, too, although knowing what's going on beforehand cuts down some of the surrealism.

So, what are the most bizarre/surreal movies you've seen?

hmm has to be 13 that i watched last week. Don't get me wrong its a great film.

Basicly about a guy that has to quit college cus his dad is ill and needs to pay the bills, gets a job as a electrician and while working at a house over hears a guy talking about how to make lots of money. The guy steals a evelope with the location and heads off there, and he ends up in like a Russian roulette game with 16 other people and all rich people standing around watching betting millions on them.

Immortàl.

Weirdest story ever.
Basically it's a french SciFi/Animation movie, about Horus (the egyptian god) trying to impregnate a woman with his child by taking control over a male protagonist. Set in 2095.

Needless to say I loved it, one of my favourite films.

Read the wiki article for more info.

Pink Floyd: The Wall, Oldboy, The Good The Bad The Weird, Stalker, Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog, Andre Rublev, Solaris (Original), M, Memento... Off the top of my head.

In general, anything Andre Tarkovsky is going to be a head trip, and a lot of foreign movies have weird plots. Haven't seen Eraserhead, but that's supposed to be weird too.

EDIT: I somehow forgot about Vertigo. Classic.

Couple that come to mind:

The Machinist starring Christian Bale- It's absolutely phenomenal.

Dr. Strangelove- Hilarious. Weird, but hilarious. One of the best endings to a movie I've ever seen.
Image

Ichi the Killer- Crazy Japanese slasher movie. Definitely not safe for anyone under 18, (probably anyone, really) but man it's crazy.

Identity - Good movie, but the weird bit is the plot. 10 'personalities' are killed off one by one, until one is left.

Ok you see the previews and you think "wow this is going to be some kind of fantasy battle thing or something like that. Oh hell naw, it gets worse.
On top of the fact it isn't what it acts like it will be, the "awesome" parts are SHORT and brief. And then the plotty bits are generally sad and overly dramatic.

You think OH GOOD they didn't just now lobotomize the main character that would be the worst thing possible
Stop reading now if you don't want it ruined, the twists kind of would ruin it if you read them now.
Though honestly if you're on the fence about it, I'd almost vote to not watch.

Then the end turns to be some "oh this was a dream" thing...
oh and Shamalan this...
THEY DO lobotomize her..

I... HATE.. ARTISTIC... ENDINGS...
The movie would have been 1000 times better if like

"no STOP I've discovered something... don't *i dunno stab her in the face with a giant nail*
Let that girl go she's innocent"
And then they all go free, she finds a new home, lives happily ever after.
They stick it to the badguy and the main character is fine at the end and saves the day.

Instead the idiot director goes for the sad ending with all the sacrifice that goes with it.
I wasn't hoping for a psycothriller I wanted just a fun movie.
I'm not saying it was *bad* cinematically speaking but not for how they portrayed it.

I just hate it when a director gets the idea that they want to go for the 'uncommon sad ending because nobody expects it'
There's a reason

Nobody actually wants the sad, artistic, lame stupid ending.
They want the hero to win. They want the girl to escape the unjust imprisonment.
Not this drivel that artists expect consumers to swallow.

I suppose safe to say, I was disappointed

Adding to my list, because I just saw it the other night: Rubber. Watch it. Don't read the plot summary, just watch it.

Sucker Punch was trippy...
Triangle (weird plot shiz)
Eraserhead (huge lol)
2001 (world's greatest movie, the ending takes the caek)
Silent Night: Deadly Night 2 (garbage day!)
The Room

(the last two were for the lulz, they hardly qualify as movies)

Saw that for the first time with a friend over the summer. After the ending, we turned to each other and said "what the :bunny: did we just watch." Mind-screw movies like that are the best.
